Great day out on the harbour today for Winter Social Sailing! ⛵ 4 yachts out with 17 members enjoying sunny skies and good winds. A few also stayed on for a drink at the bar afterwards.

Winter Social Sailing runs every Saturday throughout winter, with boats heading out from 1.30 pm. All welcome, whether you're experienced, after a casual sail, or want to crew. Club boats are available and there are always members happy to have you along.

The club bar is open 4.00 pm – 6.00 pm after sailing.

OYC Winter Series – Winter Cup 2026

The Otago Yacht Club Winter Series for 2026 will run across five Saturday afternoons from June through to September.

The Winter Series is a great way to keep sailing through winter, enjoy some friendly competition on the harbour, and catch up back at the clubhouse afterwards. Whether you’re a regular club sailor or keen to join us for a race or two, all sailing vessels are welcome.

Our first Winter Social Sailing event was held on Saturday, 2 May, and what a great start to the winter season!

Although the wind was light, it was a beautiful day on the water, and we had a fantastic turnout, with five yachts sailing, including three club members enjoying time out on a club boat, and a total of 14 people taking part.

Winter Social Sailing will continue every Saturday throughout the winter months, with boats heading out from 1.30 pm, or on some weekends, a planned race will be organized.

Whether you are an experienced sailor, keen for a casual sail, or would like to come along and crew, everyone is welcome. We have club boats available and there are always opportunities to join fellow members on their boats.

After sailing, the club bar will be open from 4.00 pm to 6.00pm, making it the perfect chance to warm up, catch up, and enjoy a drink in our Club Rooms
