7th and final round saw GBC up against 2nd place team Durie Hill from WHANGANUI. They needed to have a win and a draw to go through as second qualifier.
GBC started brilliantly, they were comfortably up in the singles and pairs, with the 4’s neck and neck.
Shaun confirmed a great win, disposing of the opposition 21-15. The Pairs lost their way and were edged out 19-18. That left the fours, who were down 12-11 on the last end. They were holding 2 shots before WHANGANUI number 3 dropped his last bowl in, Steve G needed to dislodged that bowl but just fell short.
Cambridge were gutted and headed to the bar, Durie Hill had time for as quick one and off to Naenae.
GBC loved the quicker Green today and certainly showed their class.

Round 6 against Cobden Club from the West Coast started with a heavy dew but our teams relished the green. Whilst the clash was between the bottom two in our section, the quality of the bowls was exceptional.
Once again Shaun got out to a handy lead, only to drop a 4 and then was down another 3 when he pulled off a typical Shaun shot and won the end and went on to win the game 21-15. Oh how games can be won or lost on that 1 shot!
The pairs of Andrew and Mal were always in control, but were up against a gentleman who had one of the best drives / run shot around. He saved them a lot of points, but the Gisborne pair won comfortably 22-8.
The Fours had their best game by far, they all delivered quality bowls when required and everything was still on the line on the last end and the bell had gone. The opposition were 2 behind and they attempted to drive Gisborne off the head. They ended up taking all their own bowls out and Gisborne got 6 on the final end. A very good win 18-10
Round Seven is against the very good Durie Hill from WHANGANUI, so we will see how that ends up!
