Conditions: Currently its looking windy, lets see how it pans out. I am sure we all look at our favorite apps.

If conditions evolve to clearly being marginal or worse, potentially we will make a call in the morning, so check in, to FB or WhatsApp.

A warm welcome to the 2026/27 from the Taikata Sailing Club.
We look forward to another season with you.

We start the season with the working Bee and shakedown race on the same day.
So it's time to get your boat ready and bring yourself along for some tidying and then sailing.

The working Bee:
Saturday 5th September
Start: 9:00am
General tidying. Gardening, water blasting, cleaning up boat storage and inside the club.

Sailing will follow after.

Start: 1:00pm ish
Patrol Boat: Nick
Conditions: Currently the Windy app is saying 8 knots gusting 12 knots.

Please remember to pay your club fees/subs if you have not yet.

Thanks to all the sailors and volunteers who turned out to make our Backwater Champs regatta a success yesterday. We had 17 J14's and a great mix of Frosties, IA's and a Sunny in the open division. Competition was tight due to the sprint race format and tricky tactical quirks of the Taikata race area.

However, as always the cream rose to the top with the J14 trophy taken out by Mark Shaw, and the Open fleet honors going to Truby and Cameron Dunn in the IA.

We are excited to host the first Backwater champs at TSC this Saturday 8th of August. The event is open to all our classes but has been born out of creating a J14 regatta. There will be a number of J14's coming and we will have our Frostbite class too. We are hoping to have another class of Idle along with two IA's confirmed as coming.
It looks like it will be an exciting day with more than 20 boats on the water, a real possibility!

Please come along and participate and support TSC host the Ji14's with our presence.

The Notice of Race is attached.

The format is short course racing with no more than 4 races.
The first signal is scheduled for 13:30pm
The racing briefing will be no later than 13:00pm
Entry is open from 11:00am-13:00pm and is $30.00

Saturday: Races 1-3
Start: 11:00am
Tide: High at 11:30am and 3.3
Patrol boat: Tony
Conditions: Currently on the Windy app, 2.4 knots coming from the NW gusting 4 knots.

Sunday: Races 4-6
Start: 12:00pm
Tide: High at 12:30pm and 3.2
Patrol boat: Tony
Conditions: Currently on the Windy app, 9.7-10 knots coming from the NW gusting 19

Conditions are obviously likely to change.

THis is a great opportunity to get some good sailing. Multiple races provide exciting short course racing where you can reset and go again.
So come on and turn up for practice or competitive racing. With what looks like a range of breeze the weekend is offering something or everyone.
Those that come both days usually fare much better than the rest.

Conditions: Currently the Windy app is saying 14-16 knots. It could change between now and Sunday.

Upcoming racing days:
Auckland champs Sat 20th and Sun 21st June. Start 11:00am and 12:00pm

5th July Sun Trophy day 10:30am Winter race or Trophy day

Friday 10th July (Matariki) 3:00pm Winter race or Trophy day. Yes, it's Friday. The tides are a bit too late on Saturday or Sunday. It's the best we could do.

Sat 8th August J14's are coming to TSC for racing. Frostbite fleet is welcome and encouraged. This will be fun and a great opportunity to showcase our waters, club, hospitality and have two fleets racing!
