If you can get older and still stay interested, enthusiastic and curious about the world around you, it's like having a cloak that deflects life's slings and arrows. True superpower Harry Potter cloak style. 💥
Integro is a thoughtful personal development business inspiring individuals and organisations. It is about new beginnings and a replenishing of the spirit.
'The unexamined life is not worth living.' (Socrates)
‘Integro’ is a Latin word meaning to renew, refresh, and repair. It also can denote integration, which describes bringing things together to form a whole. For us here at Integro, the name represents ‘Integrity’ and ‘Growth’, two concepts that form the cornerstones of the exciting and unique Integro vision. A perfect name for our personal growt

What stories do you tell yourself that are limiting who you can become? Where did those stories come from? Parents, teachers, friends, a previous version of yourself that wasn't kind? Isn't it time to write a new story?

Why change is hard
If you're trying to change anything about yourself, your brain will resist it. Why? It views any change as a threat to your stability. That's why big changes usually don't stick. The best way to shift things is smaller changes that don't alarm the brain. 🦋

Live your life like you're the hero of your own story. One who navigates the twists and turns that inevitably show up but learns, grows and prevails in the end. 🦋

One of the coolest things about being up early to greet the new day is the amazing colour show put on by Mother nature. Another day on this planet. Let's go get it! 🥀

Dealing with difficult people
When I first started my Integro business, I sent a survey out to some friends and colleagues to gather ideas for popular topics they'd like to see covered in workshops and resources.
One of the most-mentioned topics was "Dealing with difficult people", with one respondent helpfully offering the title of: "Dealing with jerks at work" as a suggestion...
Now anyone who has done any coaching with me might be aware that my first question on seeing this topic would be to suggest asking oneself: "Am I perhaps one of those difficult people?" Why? Because, it's always better and easier to work on yourself than other people.
Most people can spend a lot of time talking about all the tricky characters they encounter in their work lives, but are not at all curious about whether they could be one themselves. Them's fighting words I know, but we can all be difficult at times. Reflecting on that truth creates a personal responsibility lens that shifts perception in a big way.
Are there "jerks" at work? Of course! But it's more empowering to focus on oneself first rather than trying to change other people - which is hard and not our task.
Happy Monday all!

Reflection for the day
You can't grow without an honest view of yourself. What you can't see, you can't change. A clear-eyed appraisal of where you're at is oftentimes enough to start a shift.
What’s one thing you’re becoming more aware of lately?

Something new is starting at Wellington Central Library this July and I'm really excited to share it.
It's called Think Well Corner.
Every Saturday, I'll be hosting a free, small-group session at Wellington Central Library focused on one thing: practical thinking skills for real life. Not therapy. Not a lecture. Just a warm, honest conversation about the mental habits that quietly shape how we live - and some simple tools to work with them.
The inaugural session on 11 July is called "The Story You Tell Yourself" and if you've ever caught yourself thinking "I'm just not that kind of person," it's for you.
12 spaces. Free. Open to everyone.
If you'd like to come along, register your spot by emailing [email protected] or calling 0800 BE OPEN.
I'd love to see you there. 💙

You can study resilience and talk about grit till the sun goes down. But you don't really find either until life demands them from you.
