Congratulations to for her selection in the Tasman Mako FPC Squad for 2026.
Co-captain of our team again was one of the standouts this season and will be looking for another big campaign.

❤️🖤 PŌNEKE SUPPORTER OF THE WEEK ❤️🖤
SHERROL SURREY
The award for Pōneke Supporters Player of the Year is named after Sherrol Surrey, and here’s why.
She first got involved when her father, Chris Holt, took her to Pōneke Premier games when she was just two years old. She’s kept up with our club ever since because she simply loves being part of the Pōneke whānau. She remembers her dad getting the Friday night train back from Auckland in the 1950s so he didn’t miss a game, and he rarely missed one in over 60 years. Highlights for her include winning the Jubilee Cup and, of course, many great matches.
Up until a few years ago, Sherrol’s match day ritual was to get a bus or sometimes up to three buses to get to Kilbirnie Park (if she wasn’t hitching a ride with Upper Hutt supporters on their bus). Nowadays, living with her daughter in Queenstown, she starts the day with bacon and eggs and a hot chocolate at a café before making sure she’s home in time to don her red and black Pōneke scarf and settle down to watch the livestream.
Outside of rugby, Sherrol was an excellent tennis player, including winning many tournaments when in the top team at Wellington Girls' College. Sherrol loves the people, the friendliness, the loyalty, and the shared love of the red and black teams. She hopes that in ten years the heart, spirit, and camaraderie of Pōneke will continue.
She belongs!
