Knee pain? Tensions gone!

How well does your upper back rotate?

The T-Spine Rotation Test checks how well your thoracic spine moves from side to side.

Good thoracic rotation is important for everyday movement and sports — whether you’re reaching, turning, swinging, throwing, or simply looking over your shoulder.

When rotation is limited, the body may compensate through the shoulders, neck, or lower back.

We look for:

Restricted rotation

Differences between left and right

Compensation through the lower back or shoulder

Pain or discomfort during movement

The goal is simple: find where movement is being lost before deciding what needs to be treated.

Assess first. Treat second. Move better.

Cupping Therapy: What It Does — and What It Doesn’t 👀

You may have heard that cupping “removes toxins,” “pulls out moisture,” or that darker marks mean you have a bigger problem.

That’s not quite how it works.

Cupping uses suction to create negative pressure over the skin and underlying tissue. It may help temporarily reduce the feeling of muscle tightness or soreness, improve local circulation, and make movement feel easier for some people.

And those famous circular marks? 🔴
They’re not toxins or moisture leaving your body. The suction causes small blood vessels near the skin to react, which creates the temporary discoloration.

At SMC Post Rehab, cupping is simply one tool in the toolbox. We use it when appropriate alongside assessment, manual therapy and exercise.

Don’t chase the marks. Treat the movement.

Can your ankle move well enough?

The Weight-Bearing Lunge Test is a simple way to assess ankle mobility while your foot remains on the ground.

Limited ankle movement may affect how you squat, walk, run and climb stairs—often causing the body to compensate through the knee, hip or lower back.

The goal is not simply to push the knee forward. We observe whether the heel stays down, the knee tracks smoothly and both sides move evenly.

Better movement starts with the right assessment.

If you have elbow pain, get help ASAP. Small joints take longer to heal especially the elbow joint. You are not just bending your forearm...you are rotating (pronation)your forearm thousands if not hundreds of times every day.
