⚠West Bend Trail Closures⚠
Starting today, the following trails are closed for public and operator safety during ongoing mastication and small tree thinning operations to reduce wildfire risk and restore ecosystem health:
⛔Sector 16 Trail is closed from Swede Shelter east to the junction with Forest Service Road 4615-300.
⛔Swede Loop Trail (SST Trail) is closed from Swede Shelter to junction with Forest Service Road 4615-120.

Existing trail closure:
⛔The Tumalo Ridge Trail is closed from Swede Shelter north to the intersection with Forest Service Road 4601-434.

📢 Heads up before your next ride!

Tumalo Ridge Trail is closed from Swede Shelter north to FS Road 4601-434 for small-tree thinning work that reduces wildfire risk and restores forest health. Log hauling is also happening west of Bend, so use caution at road crossings.

Also: 🔥 The Deschutes National Forest’s fall prescribed burn season is underway, with up to 5,886 acres planned across the Bend-Fort Rock, Crescent, and Sisters Ranger Districts. Burns may happen near Bend, Sisters, Sunriver, La Pine, and Crescent, including around Pine Mountain, Wanoga Butte, Anne’s Butte, Pistol Butte, and the Three Trails OHV System. Expect some smoke, especially overnight and early morning, and possible temporary access restrictions near active burns.

Race Saturday Ring of fire to end the season with 250 mountain bikers of all ability levels, looking to find that flow at the Ring of Fire. Trails will be busy 9-11 am Swampy to Dutchman, Farewell to Skyliner area 10-1:30 and Wanoga area after 11 am until 4pm to complete 50 miles of the good stuff with friends from as far away as Alaska to New Hampshire, plus plenty of western states and ages 15-70+ . ⚠️West Bend Trail Closure Update

🟢Duodenum has reopened. With this change, there are now currently no trail closures in the West Bend area at this time.

Temporary trail closures are likely to begin again later this fall once weather and fire conditions moderate and vegetation management work resumes in the area.

‼Persistent hot temperatures, low relative humidity and breezy conditions have dried both dead and live vegetation out to conditions typically experienced much later in the summer. Under elevated conditions, new wildfire starts are likely to rapidly grow and resist control.

⚠Help firefighters by preventing human-caused wildfires! Stage 2 public use fire restrictions are in effect across Central Oregon public lands.

The following trails west of Bend have reopened:
🟢Sector 16 between Swede Shelter and the junction with Upper Whoops Trail
🟢Swampy-Dutchman Trail from the Dutchman Flat Trailhead east to the Swampy Lakes Trailhead
🟢Tumalo Ridge Trail from Swede Shelter north to the intersection with the Tumalo Creek Trail

The only closure that currently remains in this area at this time is:
⛔The entire length of Duodenum is closed.
