We’ve gotten a lot of new followers over the past couple weeks, so if you are new here, welcome! We started out as a tent company prioritizing innovation with the harshest environments and most ambitious expeditions in mind. Now, we make a wide range of products, spanning from ultralight thru-hiking shelters, to high camp bivvies, to Everest-style base camp group tents. We really nerd out about tents, figuring out ways to add the most strength for least weight. We are stoked to welcome all to the SlingFam.

When the mission is to move fast and light in the mountains while not compromising on protection from the elements, the 2Lite kind of a game changer. It sits in a bit of an unconventional space for 2P shelter options, being slightly heavier (but much stronger) than some trekking pole shelters, and being slightly lighter (but not freestanding) than some tents like the Portal 2.

"I have typically resorted to my trusted Portal 2 for hundreds of mountain missions, but I realized that if I am going to count grams with all my other gear, I could probably apply the same logic to my shelter without compromising too much. The 2Lite, even without the trekking pole conversion kit, is a full 8oz lighter than my Portal. It still felt roomy for 2 people, has 2 big vestibules for all our gear, and felt rock solid even in 20mph gusts. This tent feels so much more substantial than other ultralight tents I've used that might not have allowed me to sleep with the winds we had on the night before an alpine start up Mount Jefferson. When you are only planning on sleeping 4 hours, that time is critical, and if you are worried about your tent collapsing, that is a non-starter." -

The next-up in our Expedition series lineup is the ProGuide 3. This high camp/basecamp tent is designed with the needs of high altitude mountaineering guides in mind. We've selected rugged materials (70D Nylon in the floor and fly fabrics) for this tent, to endure season-after-season use in the harshest climates. Those materials bring the weight to just over 11lbs, but that weight split between 3 people for a bomb-proof shelter could very well be worth it, depending on your mission.

It's officially WindSaber season in the alpine. In some ways, the WindSaber is a quintessential SlingFin tent. It has deep expedition pedigree, is strong as an ox, and uses some innovative features to achieve a very livable design without a significant weight penalty. This is certainly one of (if not the) the strongest sub-5lb tents on the market, built for those whose adventures never compromise.

Besides being a wickedly light 2P shelter, the SplitWing is such a powerful shelter to have in your quiver because of its modularity. You can use the sub-8oz tarp on its own for bare-bones weather protection, or you can add the 11.2oz mesh inner for a double-wall shelter with protection from the creepy crawlies. See a storm brewing on the forecast, add the 2oz vestibule for full weather protection. Each of these components (minus the vestibule) can be pitched on its own, or with the other components, adding a ton of flexibility to your thru-hikes or fast and light missions.

"We spent nearly three weeks (!) in Alaska this spring, and the weather kept things interesting. It snowed so much it was bananas! We shoveled a lot… and I mean a lot.

Very grateful to have had solid tents with us. None of them broke and the dome tent became the heart of camp where we could all hang out and have many Swedish Fika each day and wait out the storms together.

Having an individual tent almost felt like luxury. I’m usually used to sleeping maybe a little too close to my tent mates on these kinds of expeditions, so having some personal space was a pretty nice upgrade."
