named the SlingFin Portal 2 as "the king of weather resistance in the backpacking category." Their thorough review highlighted the Portal as a great lightweight option that is easy to pitch, very livable, has a small packed size, and innovative features. Features like the internal guylines, rainfly toggles, and trekking pole outrigger supports add a ton of strength with a minimal weight penalty. Even small details like backup zippers extend the usable repair-free life to your tent because we all know, zippers are usually the first things to break and one of the most expensive things to repair.

We are stoked to share reviews like this, because we know our customers value every tiny detail in their tent purchases. Check out the full review in the link in our bio.

Pyramid shelters are rapidly becoming a staple for a variety of adventurers. The Cinder Cone is one of the best 4P mids around, clocking in at just 27oz (765g). Don't just take our word for it, check out SectionHikers review at the link below. Without spoiling the in-depth review, here are some of the highlights:
- Effective lightweight shelter for 4-season camping in exposed areas with few windbreaks.
- Innovative ventilation system
- 10D Sil/Sil ripstop nylon packs very small and sheds snow more easily than DCF

Dang, thats a Nice Flat Tarp. When ultralight is the name of the game, and you need something that is versatile, easy to pitch, and will protect you in a pinch, the NFT is your best friend. At 12.3oz (349g) on its own, and 23.5oz (667g) when combined with the SplitWing Mesh body, the NFT can truly meet all of your thru-hiking needs. It stands out from the other tarps on the market with subtle caternary curves on the long edges, which give it a perfect pitch in many configurations, not just A-frame. While DCF tarps will come in a smidge lighter than our 10D Nylon 66 ripstop Sil/Sil fabric, this tarp crushes on packability (about the size of a grapefruit) and durability. No more babying it when you throw it in your pack.

Who is the OneUp even for? We designed the OneUp from the ground up as a hexagonal dome style tent with alpine high camps in mind. Two of things that make SlingFin stand out are innovation and versatility.

The OneUp carries that DNA to its core. With 6 equal length poles and our patented WebTruss technology, pitching it is a breeze, even in a storm. It also has a removable floor, so you can dig the snow out mess-tent style, or put the floor in for complete protection from the elements. With loads of pockets and loops, organizing gear in a tent has never been easier. It goes without saying, but the strength and craftsmanship are the gold standard for expedition tents. When your expedition comes with more question marks than known answers, the OneUp is bonafide to stand up to any test.

is showing us exactly why the SlingFin Portal 2 just got named the best backpacking tent of 2026 for weather protection byBackpacker Magazine . Taking the Portal 2 out to Isla Navarino is no joke. The weather can be brutal in one of the southernmost islands of Patagonia, only about 600 miles away from Antarctica.

When we designed the Portal 2, we wanted to make a sub-3lb, 3-season backpacking tent that could be pushed into 4-season use. We believe we struck the right balance between weight, durability, and livability, while making no compromises on the strength and quality of the tent. It's always affirming that we are on the right path when we get recognition like this. As a small tent company amidst a list of products from much much larger companies, we don't take it for granted.

At just 1lb 11.4oz min weight and a paper-towel roll packed size, it might seem like the Cinder Cone 4P Pyramid is a bit scant for real backcountry expeditions. Showed us that couldn't be further from the truth, pushing his Cinder Cone into service deep into the Brooks Range. Pyramids are becoming quite popular for a reason, and we think you will agree that this is one of the best on the market.

Big expeditions sometimes call for 'Big Freaking Domes'. On expeditions, your perspective adjusts. After a couple days, the 23ft wide and 9ft tall BFD starts having a real Taj Mahal-esque feel to it. These expedition tents, while certainly not for everyone's needs, are a big part of our core identity here at . From Everest base camp, to remote expeditions near the poles, this tent is up for anything and everything.

Happy Earth Day SlingFam! Needless to say, without the beauty and wonder of our Earth, there would be no SlingFin. We do our best to give people the tools to explore our beautiful home with deeper intentions. Part of that mission is done by developing the best quality gear that lasts longer than anything on the market, and repairing gear to keep it out of the landfill. Another part of that mission is being good stewards of nature in our own adventures, and spreading that love and respect whenever possible. The last part is by giving back to Earth. We have been a member of The Conservation Alliance for over 15 years, pushing for the conservation of our lands that fill our lungs with clean air and our hearts with beautiful memories.
