Meet Rachel. Rachel started dancing as a child. Like so many dancers, life eventually pulled her in different directions and she thought her dancing days were behind her. Then she found Urbanity 2. Stepping back into the studio, Rachel rediscovered something she didn't know she was still missing.
Rachel's story is what Move What Matters is all about. Less than two weeks until our June 30 deadline. Help us reach our fundraising goal so every dancer who thought their time was over has a way back to what they love.

Rachel first walked into Urbanity as a teenager. Years later, she came back as an intern, then as an educator, and now as a resident artist with Urbanity X.
Rachel's story is what Move What Matters is all about. Help us reach $75,000 by June 30 so artists like Rachel have a long-term home to build bold, ambitious work like "Looking Back, Stepping Forward," an evening-length collaboration with Ezekiel's Wheels Klezmer Band that weaves Yiddish folk dance into contemporary practice.

Announcing the 2026 recipients of Urbanity X, our annual residency program supporting emerging Boston movement artists.
This year marks an exciting first for the program: Urbanity X is now offered across two distinct tracks. The Dancemaker track supports choreographers advancing their artistic practice, while the new Community track supports artists whose work directly benefits the Boston dance community. Each resident receives a $1,000 stipend, 40 hours of studio space, the opportunity to share their work publicly, and more.

Meet our partners at Pine Street Inn. Through Urbanity's Movement Meets program, dance shows up exactly where it's needed most: in shelters, where joy and creativity aren't extras, but essential. For an hour, the room lifts, and so does everyone in it.
This partnership is what Move What Matters is all about. Help us raise $75,000 by June 30 so programs like Movement Meets keep showing up where they're needed most.
