Five ways you can invest in your health:
🦁Get a gym membership.
🦁Get 7 to 8 hours of sleep. Your body needs sleep to recover and operate correctly.
🦁Learn about food and nutrition.
🦁Drink plenty of water and decrease sugary drinks.
🦁Meditate. Having a healthy mind is just as important as a healthy body.
🆃🅾🅳🅰🆈 we were privileged to dedicate our workout to the names on the pink hearts in our lobby who have battled/ are still battling breast cancer.
We wore pink in their honor and pushed extra hard in the workout. While we honored those names today, we know that this goes beyond today and the month of October.

Here are some Breast Cancer Awareness Facts:
•1 in 8 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime
•There are over 3.5 million breast cancer survivors in the United States as of 2020.
•On average, every 2 minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States.
•Although rare, men get breast cancer, too. In 2020, an estimated 2,620 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year in the U.S

5 WAYS TO EXERCISE THE BRAIN 🧠
1. Physical Exercise: Promotes the growth of new brain cells.
2. Cognitive Training: help achieve targeted therapeutic goals, such as enhancing self-esteem, training frustration tolerance, and developing problem solving strategies.
3. Nutrition: Research suggests eating just enough to maintain a healthy weight may help with cognition
4. Better Sleep: Brain fitness programs typically check for underlying causes of sleep loss, such as a medication side effect, sleep apnea (when a blocked airway during sleep causes you to stop breathing periodically), or an overactive bladder that interrupts sleep for trips to the bathroom.
5. Meditation: Meditation or exercises such as tai chi appear to increase something called cognitive reserve. That's the capacity of the brain to switch between different tasks, allocate resources, and handle unexpected stressors in a way that makes us better able to cope with day-to-day life. @ CrossFit HCP

There are several types of fat — some good, some bad.
Trans fats are commonly considered unhealthy, while unsaturated fats — including monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fat — are considered healthy. For saturated fats in particular, pay attention to QUALITY.

While lowering the volume can increase intensity (i.e., produce more power), volume reductions are also important for beginners because muscles, ligaments, and tendons need to become gradually accustomed to the volume in CrossFit. Reducing volume also reduces excessive soreness, as well as the risk for rhabdomyolysis and injury.
