Just as he said he would do, Governor Stein vetoed the constitutional carry bill for NC. Now the bill goes back to the General Assembly for a final vote, to either overrule the veto and pass the law, or not. The opinion in the news is that the General Assembly does not have a majority in favor of the bill and it is likely not going to pass. So here we are again, same as it’s always been, that NC residents will continue to need a concealed carry permit issued by their county’s sheriff to conceal a firearm and carry it for self defense. So those of you who have been holding off, waiting to see if you’d need a permit…. Now is the time to finally get it done! Contact Jeremy at WNC Training to sign up for his next class. 828-818-5500

Almost there! NC residents - If you currently do NOT have a concealed carry permit, don’t conceal and carry just yet. We’re not through with the process to become America’s 30th permitted carry state. We are through two of the 3 steps to pass permitless carry into law in NC. Our senate passed the Bill in March and sent it to the House. The House passed the bill to Governor Josh Stein on 6/11 for him to either pass, veto, or do nothing, in which case the bill would be law in 10 days. This article states his comment has been that he plans to veto. If he does, it’s sent back to Senate and House to pass or let the veto stand, defeating the law. So keep watch on what happens next, and if the permitless carry bill becomes law, we will be sure to post here! Next…. What use is an NC carry permit if we have permitless carry? We will be discussing that soon!
