Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave everything for our freedom. Whether you’re spending this day with family or friends, we salute all those who serve and have served.

Both Banner and Olofson Shooting Ranges will be closed today in observance of the holiday. Olofson Shooting Range will reopen on Thursday, May 28 at 10:00 AM. Banner Shooting Range will reopen on Friday, May 29 at 10:00 AM.

We're in for another mild, gorgeous spring weekend—perfect for getting outdoors! � ️ Why not spend some time at the range? Banner and Olofson are both open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday. Whether you want to do some plinking or bust some clays, we've got you covered!

Bring your fishing tackle along and, after some time on the range, hit a nearby lake or pond for some relaxing fishing. 🎣 Or take a nice walk in the woods and keep an eye out for morel mushrooms—it's a great weekend for a little outdoor adventure! 🍄🌳

April 24, 2026: BANNER SHOOTING RANGE IS OPEN NORMAL OPERATING HOURS - 10:00AM to 5:00PM

April 20, 2026: **A Mid-American power outage has impacted the range and 1300 other residents and businesses this afternoon in Warren County forcing the range to close around 2:00PM today. Power was still not restored at 3:00PM so the decision was made to remain closed for the duration of the day. Banner will re-open at 10:00AM on Friday, April 24. We apologize for the inconvenience.**

🚧 Banner Shooting Range Closure Update 🚧

April 20, 2026: Banner Shooting Range will re-open at 10:00 AM today. The county will be removing the barricades this morning. 🎉🎉🎉

April 19, 2026: Banner Shooting Range will not open today due to the roads remaining closed in the area. We are hopeful that the county will reassess the situation on Monday morning and remove the barriers so we can reopen at that time. 🙏🤞

April 18, 2026: Banner Shooting Range will not open today due to the road still remaining closed from the recent heavy rainfall in the area. Please do not drive around the barricades. While the road may seem passable, you are causing damage which will prevent the county from opening the road sooner.

April 17, 2026: Due to road flooding, the range is currently CLOSED. The Warren County Road Department has placed barricades on both roads and announced they will remain closed until the water recedes. 🚫🌊

❄️ Winter Weather Closures - Sunday, March 15 & Monday, March 16 🚫

Due to a Blizzard and High Wind Warning in our area, Olofson Shooting Range will be closed today to ensure the safety of our patrons and staff. 🌨️ A wintry mix with freezing rain is expected this morning, changing to snow later in the day. 💨 Strong winds will create blizzard conditions and significantly reduce visibility. The National Weather Service is advising against travel this afternoon and overnight due to these hazardous conditions. 🚫

Tomorrow will remain extremely cold, with wind chills as low as -20°F. Expect sustained winds of 22–28 mph and gusts into the low 40s.

💭Dreaming of trees?🌳Go ahead, treat yourself! Whether it’s conifers, native hardwoods, or shrubberies, now’s the perfect time to plant something new.

Spring is just around the corner, and the Iowa State Forest Nursery is taking orders for bareroot seedlings—perfect for planting season! There’s nothing better than the day your seedlings arrive!

Here’s what you need to know:

☑ Order by May 15
☑ Choose delivery or pickup in Ames.
☑ Seedlings are packaged in bundles of 25, each in a sealed, labeled plastic bag.

Tree varieties include:

⭐23 species of native hardwoods
⭐8 conifer species
⭐15 smaller tree and shrub varieties

Prices range from $1 to $1.30 per seedling.

Seedlings are sold in three age classifications and range in size from 10 to 30 inches, depending on the species.
