You know I love dark roast and deep conversations. I got to savor both today with Karen Carnabucci, LCSW, TEP at realtruekaren.com. From laughter to dreaming about what embodied and practical training for therapists could be to imagining ways to disrupt the system, our conversation was rich and deep.
It was so delightful that we're planning on doing it in the future...and inviting you to join us. Stay tuned for more information.

"I went into a workshop thinking I knew how grief would show up.
I was wrong."
She expected to grieve her mom.
What surfaced was nostalgia.
Christmas.
The one time in her life she felt safe.
Here’s what I’ve learned:
Grief doesn’t come when we expect.
It shows up for the traditions we’ve lost. The people who made them sacred.
It shows up in your body first.
Most people want to hurry through it.
What I practice is different.
Making grief accessible. Doable.
Not by rushing by listening.
To where it actually lives.
In the eyes. The nervous system. The breath.
"It felt spiritual, scientific — the combination of brain function with knowledge for soul and human function.”
That’s what Brainspotting is.
Your body knows.
I just listen.
Curious?
Here's a Self-Brainspotting Guide to begin exploring

Engage in Brainspotting with Self-Spotting is a step-by-step guide to finding your resource spot — the calm, grounded place in your body — and staying with it long enough for something to shift.

📢 NEW EPISODE OUT - When we think about grief, we often think about losing someone. But it can also show up in other ways—through change, through the body, through things that don’t always have a clear name.
In this episode, Megan Malick shares experiences from different stages of her life that reflect the wider spectrum of grief, including:
• early disruption and change
• coping mechanisms developed in childhood
• uncovering trauma later in life
• infertility and hysterectomy
• losing both parents within months
Alongside this, her relationship with faith also changes—moving from something structured to something more personal and expanded over time.
It’s a conversation that brings these two threads together in a very real way.

There are two ways to be lost in the woods.
One: you took a wrong turn, and you just want out.
The other: something changed. A role ended. Someone left. A version of you stopped fitting.
There’s no trail back —
because back isn’t where you’re going.
Most people apologize for being in the second kind.
You don’t have to.
Change equals loss.
Loss equals grief.
Grief, faced, felt, and metabolized leads to
growth.
Which forest are you in right now?

Grief isn't just about loss. It's about becoming.
I joined Dr. Cherie Lindberg on Elevated Life Academy to talk about losing both parents in the same winter — and how sitting in the sacred unknown led me to the work I was always meant to do.
If you're in the messy middle of a transition, this one's for you.

A New Path didn’t start as a book.
It started as a grieving daughter trying to figure out the avalanche of logistics that comes after both parents die.
Today a conversation I recorded with Esther Angell on the Unexpected Advice podcast was released. I’m grateful for the way she listened — and the questions she asked — because they helped me remember the real origin story of this work.
When my parents died, I understood grief. I had spent years supporting people through loss.
What I didn’t understand were the logistics.
Required Minimum Distributions.
Safe deposit box rules.
The “real will.”
All the systems that appear after the funeral.
My learning curve was steep.
So I grabbed a giant planner from Staples and started organizing everything — paperwork, tasks, self-care, permission slips, and the people I could reach out to.
In many ways, I became my own client.
Later, when friends began losing parents too, I started writing everything I was learning in a Google Doc to share with them.
The document grew.
It got passed around.
Eventually… a manuscript existed.

And if you’re curious about the resource that grew from that experience, A New Path is available now, and the ebook is $0.99 on Bookshop.org this month in celebration of its first birthday. Purchases there support independent bookstores and the communities they nourish. https://bookshop.org/a/104301/9798991811118

I recently had the honor of being a guest on the Awakening Soul Divinity Podcast with Caroline Rena — Spiritual Alchemist and US Army Veteran.
The episode is titled:
“Losing Both Parents — AND Managing Their Entire Estate.”
In 2022, I lost both of my parents.
Overnight, I became not only a grieving daughter — but the administrator of their entire estate.
Paperwork.
Phone calls.
Accounts.
Logistics.
Decisions.
And heartbreak.
In this conversation, we explore something most people don’t talk about:
Grief is sacred.
And grief is practical.
It lives in tears —
and in spreadsheets.
We talk about:
• What happens when responsibility arrives with loss
• Why paperwork activates overwhelm
• How anger and sadness coexist
• Why your most broken places may hold your liberation
• How grief can become a portal
If you are walking through loss — or supporting someone who is — I hope this conversation meets you gently.

This conversation is explores the soil from which my book A New Path grew. This month marks its first birthday, and I remain deeply grateful for how this work continues to support heart-led humans navigating loss and logistics.
If it serves you, I’m honored.
