OUR STORY ❤️
KC Cheer was founded in 1998 by Michael & Kristi Whitney, with a vision that went far beyond cheerleading. What started as a dream has grown into something bigger than we ever could have imagined — but through every season, every team & every milestone, our purpose has remained the same.
For us, it has never been just about winning. Our goal has always been to create a safe place for kids to call home — a place where they feel supported, challenged & loved. We want our athletes to understand the value of hard work, learn how to be great teammates, overcome challenges & develop life skills they’ll carry with them long after their years as cheerleaders are over.
As owners, we’ve had the privilege of coaching athletes of every age & every level since opening our doors. We’ve watched countless kids grow up inside these walls, & we’ve been fortunate enough to watch our own children — Harrison & Ashleigh — grow up in this program, too.
They were always encouraged to explore other sports and find their own paths. In the end, they chose to come back to the place they grew up — this time as coaches — helping pour into the next generation of KC Cheer athletes.
One of the most special parts of doing this for nearly three decades is seeing where life takes our athletes after they leave KC Cheer. We love when former athletes come back through our doors to visit, catch us up on their lives & share everything they’ve accomplished. Even more special is watching some of them return years later with children of their own, choosing KC Cheer to be part of their kids’ lives just like it was part of theirs.
28 years later, KC Cheer has become more than we ever dreamed it could be. It’s generations of athletes & families. It’s lifelong friendships. It’s lessons learned, memories made & a community built together.
KC Cheer is more than a cheerleading program. It’s a family. It’s a home. And this is our story. ❤️
