Dr. John Rusin says sport specialization training has become a selling point and hot topic because people want to sell you that you need some special program for the sport you play. Those things cannot happen without a baseline requisite of movement capabilities and capacity. We have to create a solid foundation before we do anything specialized.

BeWell Fitness
Train the Athlete in You My name is Ben Wellenbach.
I love changing peoples lives through fitness but was fed up with people being mislead by foolish fitness products, fads and so-called trainers so I created BeWell Fitness that seamlessly integrates individuals goals with a safe, time-tested and results driven fitness program that trains the athlete in everyone.

Sports are the classroom of life!
They teach far more than just wins and losses or skills of the game.
Above all, they teach kids to move and move frequently. The obesity & health crisis correlates. If you want to see the next generation be healthier than we are, we have to find ways to keep sports fun and engaging.

Congratulations to Chief Gregg Paiser for his retirement!
To think our first meeting 18 years ago would have led to this dear friendship is an understatement. We are all better because of your impact in our lives and wish you the very best in the next phase. You have always exemplified the fire service and define what “of service” is.

At the end of every summer it’s always tough to say “see you later” to our college athletes. Outside of their sport, they are great young men and we wish them all the best in their upcoming year. We are honored to be a part of the journey. Henry Bownas and nick snow
This clip from my talk with Dr. John Rusin was the biggest golden nugget. As we develop and mature we have a critical window of 7-10 years that sets the tone for the long term capacity and influence our performance and habits stem from. Utilizing that window of training is critical. Regardless of sport, we need to think long term and get people moving and moving well in that window for a healthy future.

I’ve had the pleasure of being a coach for more than 20 years and what I can say for sure is everyone has their own story and why for what they do. They have certain things that motivate them and are important. It doesn’t matter their age or experience level; everyone has a story and it’s meaningful.
This past weekend we had five that competed at USA Triathlon Nationals. They stepped into their own and relished in the opportunity to compete. The funny thing is that although this event is a huge honor to compete in, this by no means defines who these five are. They are bigger than a race and we are honored to be a part of the journey.
