Your nod happens in a second. Everything after happens even faster.
This sport doesn't give you a possession change or next quarter. You get one run, one ride, one trip though the pattern. The margin between a check and an empty pocket is sometimes a few hundredths of a second.
That's it.
Mental game isn't a "nice-to-have" in rodeo. It might be the single biggest factor in the sport. One thing you can control: your mindset in the box, chute, and walking in the arena. Your focus in the seconds before the nod.
Rough stock, timed events, doesn't matter --
That takes a trained mind, not just a tough one.
Today marks a new week, with the same commitment to excellence. This week's practice:
Focus your mind before each run.
Stop worrying about school, friends, work, family
LOCK IN ๐
Oh and parents, lead by example. Model the type of athlete you want your child to be. Your focus before a run leads to their focus before a run. Your attitude after a run, models for their attitude after a run.
This week, hold your student-athletes accountable to their weekly goals.
