[05/22/20]   More Michael updates, sounds like he’s on the mend! 😊: After seeing the update about Michael posted today, I spoke with Gail. The post indicated Michael had a stroke following the procedure he had earlier this week. That is incorrect. The stroke occurred back in March (from which he recovered) when being discharged after getting a stent. The procedure on Tuesday went well, back home on Wednesday (yesterday) and is doing well. Gail asked that I contact as thought maybe another update should be posted so people have the correct info and know all is well following the most recent procedure.

[05/21/20]   Update on Michael from friend of the club: He was in the hospital a couple of days ago to repair a congenital heart condition, which was successful. But just as he was being discharged, he suffered a minor stroke that affected his speech. He sounded pretty good this morning when I spoke to him. If anyone wants to it would be good to give him a call or send a card sometime to show support. If you need his number/address send us a message. :)

Áirc Damhsa Dance Club

Happy International Dance Day!! Enjoy this lovely piece from the Motherland. Missing you all!

On a sunny weekend at the end of March 2020, 41 children from Áirc Damhsa became collective choreographers and film makers for a unique Creative Ireland project. While everyone in Ireland was being asked to keep their distance, the young dancers performed together but apart in their favourite place within 2km of their home to the music of The Bothy Band. The collection of clips from Leitrim, Sligo, Roscommon, Mayo, Fermanagh, Longford and New York was woven together to become a shared expression of joy and celebration.

Sad news from our favorite festival. 😭💚

After much discussion, monitoring and studying the ever-evolving COVID-19 situation, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Milwaukee Irish Fest. The decision was made now to help mitigate the growing challenges of the significant planning and upfront logistics required to successfully execute the festival. Milwaukee Irish Fest, which is the world’s largest Irish music festival, was scheduled for August 13-16 at the Henry Maier Festival Park on Milwaukee's lakefront.

Based on the information we have been able to glean up until this point, we feel it will be concerning for large group gatherings, such as our 100,000 plus attendees, to be able to come together safely in August. Your health and welfare are our number one priority, and we want to play our part in keeping everyone safe.

If you purchased a ticket in advance of the festival, you will receive an email in the next few days, which will outline in more detail the options that will be available to you. You can either transfer your tickets to the 2021 festival, donate your ticket money back to Milwaukee Irish Fest to support us as a nonprofit, or receive a refund for your tickets. Refunds will automatically be issued to anyone who purchased the Failte Club VIP Experience.

We will miss seeing you all celebrate Irish culture with us, but look forward to returning to the lakefront at the Henry Maier Festival Park the third weekend in August (19-22), 2021.
