Tuesday Tips: Why CrossFit Has Hero Workouts
Hero workouts are about more than fitness.
They were created to honor fallen military members, first responders, and heroes who gave their lives serving others.
This week starts with Murph, one of the most recognized Hero workouts in CrossFit.
The workout is challenging on purpose — not because suffering is the goal, but because sacrifice deserves remembrance.
And the beautiful part?
You don’t have to RX it to honor it.
Show up. Work hard. Support the people around you. That’s what Hero workouts are really about.
Fitness with purpose. Community with meaning. 💪
Huge shoutout to everyone from CrossFit Burn that came out for Acid Athletics this weekend.
We had an awesome turnout, a lot of grit on display, and even better community support throughout the event.
No matter the placement, every athlete showed up ready to work and gave their best effort — and that’s what it’s all about.
Proud of this crew for stepping up, competing, and representing our community so well.

🔥 BURNING BRIGHT 🔥 | Member Spotlight: Nancy
Nancy’s CrossFit journey goes way back.
She was first introduced to CrossFit in 2008 at a gym in Florida while visiting family, and even took her Level 1 at just the second CrossFit affiliate in Jacksonville.
Not long after CrossFit Burn opened its doors, Nancy joined in January — and she’s been part of this community ever since.
What is she most proud of?
💬 “Seeing my body do movements that I wasn’t able to do before CrossFit.”
That’s the magic of this kind of training.
Learning new skills.
Building strength over time.
And surprising yourself with what you’re capable of.
Nancy is someone who already brings plenty of motivation on her own, but she knows there’s something special about training alongside other people chasing growth too.
💬 “Having other like-minded athletes around helps when the workouts get spicy.”
And just as importantly, she believes in the value of great coaching:
From movement standards…
to goal setting…
to having someone push you because they know you’re capable of more.
Her favorite movements?
Anything bodyweight-focused:
✅ Pull-ups
✅ Push-ups
✅ Air squats
✅ Power cleans
Least favorite?
The sn**ch.
(Although the power sn**ch gets a pass 😅)
And her superpower?
Nancy calls herself an endurance ju**ie.
She loves the grind of a long workout — and even more, the feeling of accomplishment when it’s over.
That mindset says everything.
Strong. Consistent. Resilient.
Nancy, you are Burning Bright. ✨

One of the most underrated skills in fitness?
Learning how to feel your pace.
Not just watching the clock… but understanding what your body is telling you during a workout.
In this clip, Eric talks about how he uses his breathing to know when he’s moving at the right pace — and when he’s about to redline.
The better you get at listening to your body, the better you get at pacing workouts, races, and long efforts.
A lot of people think CrossFit is only about lifting heavy and short workouts…
But when it comes to endurance races, CrossFit gives you more than people realize.
Core-to-extremity movement.
Mental toughness.
Hero workouts.
Long metcons that teach you how to keep moving when you’re tired.
That’s the stuff that carries over when the race gets hard.

You don’t have to completely stop doing CrossFit to train for races.
In this clip, Andrea breaks down how she’s trained in the past for events like Hyrox, marathons, and other endurance races by keeping CrossFit as the foundation 3–4 days a week and supplementing with:
• Threshold work
• Zone 2 cardio
• Intervals
• Hyrox simulations
The goal isn’t to throw out your training — it’s to build on it intentionally.
CrossFit develops strength, capacity, and resilience.
Specific work helps sharpen you for the event.
