🚨 Burpee Challenge 🚨
The Hub is more than just a gym. We’re a community who supports our members. We also know how to have fun! So let’s get together and support Christy Grossnickle start up coming, Pouchyroos! 🦘
When: Friday, Nov 13th from 3-6PM
Where: Hub Fitness
What: For 3 hours we will be doing 1 burpee for every dollar pledged to support Pouchyroos. We are recruiting a team of people to take on the burpees. The burpee team will be numbered off and when a pledge comes in, the next person up will be challenged to complete 1 burpee for every dollar of the pledge. So, if someone pledges $20, someone will be assigned 20 burpees. $500 = 500 burpees.
How do you pledge?
All pledges are through Kickstarter. You can pledge ANY dollar amount or pre-order Pouchyroos. Both count towards burpees! Kickstarter is all or nothing. If Pouchyroos does not reach its $20,000 goal, you will be charged nothing. Not a cent. The Kickstarter ends in Nov 19th. Click the link below to pledge!
What is Pouchyroos?
Pouchyroos is the brainchild of Christy Grossnickle. It’s a patent-pending kid’s romper with a pouch to hold a child’s favorite stuffed animal. Christy is trying to get her business up and running and has launched on Kickstarter.
We will have a sign up sheet posted at the front to sign up to be apart of the burpee team! Come out next Friday to do burpees, cheer the team on, and PLEDGE! You can also pledge online from home. Free food & drinks provided.

We received a lot of great feedback yesterday and always welcome more.
To keep everyone up to date, we are meeting this morning to discuss options and next steps. As I am sure many of you have seen, a lot of local gym owners are pushing back hard on this and banding together in hopes of a stay against the order.
Their frustrations are similar to ours:
- Five hour notice to close business
- Made large investments to keep facility clean
- Many other businesses remain open (liquor stores, salons, home improvement stores, etc) while workout facilities that promote health and wellness must close
While you have all been great since reopening, whatever decision is made will likely require even more help from our members. Solutions could include further reduction of class sizes, shorter clssses, less member interaction, temperature checks, etc.
I am sure many of you have heard the latest from Governor Ducey forcing us to once again close our doors. Needless to say navigating this ever changing situation is taxing on the gym and makes it extremely difficult to budget, plan, and operate a business.
We have always considered the gym a passion project and the focus has always been to reinvest in our members, equipment, and facility. With that said, gyms operate on very small margins and being forced to shut down for three of the past six months is a massive blow to our business.
Please allow us 24 hours for the ownership
team to meet is and figure out the best course of action moving forward. Member input is always appreciated and welcomed.
Let’s focus on the things we can control this week. Let’s kick ass and be kind to one another.
“The comeback is always greater than the setback” 💪🏽
As a fitness family, our number one goal is keep everyone happy and healthy. The whole reason we work out together is to stay fit (and drink an occasional beer or two).
When we reopened, we purchased over $10,000 in sanitation equipment to help keep the gym as clean as possible. We also increased our cleansing crew from one a week to twice a week, along with bringing in additional cleaning help in the evening. And most importantly, our members have been great at helping to keep the gym clean.
In light of the recent happening in Arizona, we want to be proactive and ensure we are doing everything we can to provide a safe environment to work out.
As a result, starting next week we will:
- Be reducing class sizes again to make sure that everyone can maintain proper social distancing. We will look to add classes to ensure everyone who wants to work out still has that opportunity.
- Trainers will wear protective masks while teaching classes and personal training when they cannot properly social distance .
- Each member will work out in a set station with all the necessary equipment and a sanitation bottle.
- Classes will end a little early to allow members to wind down before the next class arrives
We appreciate everyones help during these trying times and know how important these daily workouts are for our physical and mental health. The Hub is committed to continuing to provide a safe distraction and physical release for our members.
Long overdue! Got some new swag coming out shortly. Styles might differ slightly than pictures, but sign up sheets will be available soon. @ Hub Fitness

Thanks for sticking with us! Use this time to hang out with family and rest up. We will bring the pain back once we get the thumbs up!
Just wanted to provide an update on everything as this is constantly evolving. As things currently sit, we will continue to run classes as normal. As previously mentioned, we have increased our cleaning schedule and all of you have been great in assisting to take extra time to wipe stuff down. Please continue to help us keep the gym clean for everyone.
We are in several gym / CrossFit groups and forums. There has been A TON of communication amongst owners in regards to best practice, cleaning, etc. We are adjusting accordingly. The good news is of all hundreds of members in the groups, not one box has reported an infection. As we are learning some people are not displaying symptoms, so we need to continue to proceed with caution.
With that said, we will comply with any State and Federal mandates that come down. In the event, we do have to shutdown for a short period of time we will explore all options available to keep you all in shape and moving.
This could include:
- Smaller open gym classes
- Designing home workouts you can complete
- Facebook Live workouts
- Allowing members to take equipment home for workouts
The gym business is a labor of love and we could not do it without the support of all of our members. Our trainers and staff live this business and put in the hours every week for all of us. We thank you for your continued support and will keep everyone abreast of any changes!
