A straight answer most brands dodge: no, the LumaGlow is not a medical device.
It's a wellness device. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent anything. If you have a skin condition that needs care, your dermatologist is the right call.
Here's why we say that plainly. The wellness LED space is full of masks waving certification logos around like they mean FDA clearance. CE, RoHS, and FCC are real, but they are a manufacturing safety floor, not clearance for skin claims. We'd rather tell you what the device is than dress it up as something it isn't.
What we will stand behind: the LumaGlow is built by Red Light Wellness, the same company that makes the commercial-grade beds used in medspas and clinical practices. The engineering standard comes from there.
Honesty is part of the spec.
What's a product category where you wish companies were just straight with you?

How to judge a red light face mask in 6 specs. Screenshot this before you buy anything.
Slide 1: 6 specs that separate a real face mask from a gadget. Swipe.
Slide 2: 1 — Wavelengths. Look for coverage in both visible red (630 to 660nm) and near infrared (810 to 850nm). Single-wavelength masks are limited by comparison.
Slide 3: 2 — Weight. 3 to 4 ounces. The mask sits on your head for the whole session. Heavier gets tiring fast.
Slide 4: 3 — Fit and distance. The LEDs should sit 10 to 15mm off the skin. Flush-against-the-face designs overheat. Curved or bird-nest structure is the standard.
Slide 5: 4 — Session length. Selectable up to 10 minutes with auto-shutoff, so it fits different windows in your day.
Slide 6: 5 — Build quality. Food-grade silicone, waterproof (IP67 or similar) so you can wipe it clean between uses.
Slide 7: 6 — Certification. CE, RoHS, FCC are a manufacturing safety floor. They are not clearance for skin claims, but a device missing them should be skipped.
Skip any product that won't disclose all six.
Save this for your research.

A little honesty about my own routine.
For years, I did the thing where I'd panic-buy whatever serum or treatment promised the fastest fix, use it too aggressively, and then wonder why my skin was angry at me. Treat, react, treat again.
Using the LumaGlow changed how I think about my own face. The idea was never to force anything. It was to give my skin 10 minutes of the wavelengths it responds to and then get out of the way.
Same routine, honestly. Just calmer about it.
What's one thing in your routine you've stopped overthinking?

The cycle a lot of skincare routines get stuck in.
You break out. You strip. You over-dry. You break out again.
The harsh activities that promise a quick fix tend to strip the skin barrier. The skin overcompensates. You end up back where you started, sometimes worse.
Red light works the other direction. It supports the skin's own recovery instead of forcing it. The LumaGlow's four wavelengths reach the surface and the deeper layers where that recovery starts.
This is not covering it up. This is helping your skin reset.
Same routine. Better results.

"Overdesigned, under-engineered."
The four words my dad has been saying about most equipment since 1980. They became the founding philosophy of Red Light Wellness.
Pretty on the outside. Cheap on the inside. Breaks fast. Looks good in the room.
We do the opposite. Build it once. Build it right. Build it to last.
That posture shows up everywhere. The bed frame. The LED proximity. Even the simple timer that outlasts every iPad-based competitor by a decade.
Save this for your next conversation about why our equipment looks different.

Quick walk-through of what happens before a bed leaves our facility.
Step one: Raw metal. Sheets, tubing, and framing components. None of this comes pre-built. We cut, bend, and form it ourselves on our own metal machines.
Step two: Chassis assembly. Our team builds the bed frame from raw sheets of metal. Hand-built. No outsourced assembly line.
Step three: LED installation. Each LED is positioned by hand at the exact distance and orientation so that the inverse-square law is honored.
Step four: Testing. Before any bed ships, each bed goes througha step-by-step FDA compliant testing with our engineers.
Step five: Packaging and ship. Once your bed is purchased, we package your equipment with care and connect you with our customer service specialist to assist with your delivery.
Every bed. From raw metal to your door. In our FDA-registered facility.
This is what "Class II medical device manufactured in our FDA registered facility" actually means in practice.

One of the most appreciated features of our beds is something many buyers don't even notice at first:
Simplicity.
No complicated menus. No iPads. No confusing settings for customers to navigate.
Just set the timer, relax, and begin your session.
At Red Light Wellness, we've already done the work of selecting the red and near-infrared wavelengths that fall within the most researched and beneficial ranges. Your clients don't need to figure out what settings to choose—they simply receive a consistent, effective experience every time.
We build our equipment to be the workhorse of your business: easy to use, easy to maintain, and designed to keep customers coming back.
It's one of those design choices you don't fully appreciate until you've had it. Then you can't imagine going back.
What's something in your industry that seemed like a small detail at first, but became indispensable over time?

The thing most face masks miss about inflammation.
When your skin looks red, uneven, or irritated, it is not random. It is stressed.
The LumaGlow uses four specific wavelengths to handle it. Two of them (630nm and 660nm) work at the surface to calm visible redness. Two of them (810nm and 850nm) go deeper, where inflammation actually starts.
This is why we did not add yellow, blue, or purple LEDs. We removed the LEDs that do not earn their place. Higher wattage per LED on the wavelengths that matter, instead of low wattage spread across colors that do not.
Power equals results.

Why most red light therapy beds underdeliver.
It's not the wavelengths. It's geometry.
There's a principle in physics called the inverse square law. When you double the distance from a light source, you cut the energy delivered to 1/4. Triple the distance, you cut it to 1/9.
Many red light beds are designed for the photo. Symmetrical. Spacious. Looks great in marketing. The math says your cells are barely getting any of the light.
Our beds are designed the opposite way. Right wavelengths. Right power. And critically, right proximity to the body. So the dose your cells actually receive is what's on the label.
This is the part of the industry nobody talks about, because power and proximity don't show up well in a brochure.
If you're considering a bed for your wellness business, ask the vendor about distance from LED to body. Their answer (or non-answer) tells you everything.
