State College Wrestling Booster Club Meeting

​Wrestling season is right around the corner! Join us for our next Booster Club meeting as we gear up to support our athletes for an incredible upcoming season.

SC Wrestling started the pre-season on a strong note this weekend; placing 11th out of 64 teams in the High School Club division at the 2-day Waterway Duals! Tough battles all weekend to set the tone before the official season kicks off in mid-November. Great work, State!

A great example of the grit and determination our team shows every day.
This one is about one of our seniors, Sam Davidson, who has battled back from two significant injuries to make his way back onto the mat.
Sam’s journey is a great reminder that wrestling is about so much more than what happens on competition day. It’s about perseverance, patience, hard work, and refusing to give up.

State College Wrestling mourns the loss of Matt Suhey, one of the all-time great athletes in State High history.
Matt was a standout football player for State College in the mid-1970s and went on to a distinguished college career at Penn State. He was drafted by the Chicago Bears and was a member of the Bears’ Super Bowl XX championship team in 1985, alongside Walter Payton.
While Matt is best remembered for his accomplishments on the football field, he was also an outstanding wrestler. In 1976, Matt placed third at the PIAA Championships for State College and was a District champion at heavyweight.
Matt’s accomplishments on both the football field and the wrestling mat are a testament to his incredible athletic ability and his place among State College’s all-time great athletes.
Our deepest condolences go out to the Suhey family and all who knew and loved Matt. He will be greatly missed.
