“Observations within myself and Nonny during difficult times:

Knowing the strength of our full power love and being relatively calm in tough situation is a super power.

Clarity rides on the calm.

Intensity is not panic.

We can be calm within intensity”

It was my birthday on March 10. I was teaching at the magnificent International Yoga Festival. While at the evening Arti ceremony I looked up and fell in love with the birds. When I taught LILA YOGA the next morning, I shared this with my class and one of the students said I took the picture and she sent me this photo.

Humans can be so self intertained—sometimes with a lot of amplified sound…, and yet there were the birds above it all navigating with air currents, magnetic fields and collaboration—and this beautiful woman caught a bit of their soaring capabilities in the photo.

I am living with interest, respect, awareness and gratitude for the rhythm of nature and gently nuzzling myself into more harmony within it all…, loosening my grip and loosing myself into precious fleeting moments of pure love peace and joy.

“Don’t be afraid of the quiet space within you. Don’t crowd your head with social media.

Make time for sitting with yourself for meditation, allowing your discipline to be motivated by your interest and not by ridicule.

Know there’s a lot of wisdom within your calm and quiet self.”

Words by Erica Kaufman for the July 2026 issue of Rishikesh Yogalaya Magazine—an international publication dedicated to the wisdom of yoga

“Yoga is one of India’s greatest gifts to humanity, and it has spread far and wide

Some of what is being taught now lacks depth, but looking at the popularity of festivals, studios and yoga schools worldwide, there seems to be a sincere interest in contrasting the busy life

I can imagine a world where instead of compartmentalizing yoga as a separate practice from the rest of the day, people learn to integrate yoga into their lives - into decision-making, relationships, and into living a more sustainable lifestyle where calm and quiet are valued and appreciated.”
