Howelsen Hill is a ski area and Nordic center in winter and a city park with mountain biking, hiking and an Alpine Slide in summer.

Howelsen Hill winter operations run through April 3. Ski Free Sunday provides free skiing/riding every Sunday of the winter season.

SSWSC coaches and athletes honored by US Ski & Snowboard Team 05/14/2026

The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club was named the 2026 U.S. Ski & Snowboard Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined Club of the Year. Head Coach Karl Denney also earned Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined Coach of the Year and Overall Development Coach of the Year honors.

Alumni athletes recognized included Annika Belshaw, Ski Jumping Athlete of the Year; Alexa Brabec, Nordic Combined Athlete of the Year; and Niklas Malacinski, Nordic Combined Athlete of the Year. Awards were presented May 12 in Park City.
