I loaded more than 1,400 pounds of dumbbells onto this rack…
Then decided it wasn’t quite in the right spot.
So I unloaded them, moved the rack and loaded them all again.
More than once. 😵💫
Apparently opening a new gym is 10% big decisions and 90% moving the same heavy things around until they feel ✨just right.✨
At least I can officially say I got my workout in today. 💪
30 hours u til we open our doors…. 😬

Please share or tag someone who would be an amazing addition to the Sweat Equity family.

Don’t you love a good demo day?
Welcome to Episode 2 of “Ashley opens gym number two in under two years while running gym number one, playing Uber driver to two busy kids, and helping care for my dad with dementia... all before August 1. What could possibly go wrong?”
Today’s project: saying goodbye to the mountain wallpaper.
I’ll admit... it wasn’t bad. A mountain mural feels very Colorado. But it just wasn’t Sweat Equity. We wanted this space to feel clean, fresh, modern, and like a place where women walk in and immediately feel strong.
So Abby got to work.
Armed with a spray bottle of warm soapy water, a scraper, and a surprising amount of patience, she peeled away every last bit of it. It was messy, oddly satisfying, and one step closer to turning this space into something that actually feels like us.
Every layer we remove makes it a little easier to picture what this gym is going to become.
Stay tuned... because next up, we’re giving these walls a whole new personality. I think you’re going to love what’s coming.
And if you want to see it all in person, we’ll officially be training at 625 S. Lincoln Ave., Unit 101 starting August 3. We can’t wait to welcome you in.

Hype Girl is a strength training program for girls ages 12–15 designed to help them feel strong, capable, and confident—in and out of the gym.
At a time when many girls begin to pull back from sports, movement, or confidence in their bodies, Hype Girl creates a supportive environment where they can learn proper strength training, build healthy habits, and encourage each other along the way.
Girls will learn:
💪🏼 Mobility and movement fundamentals
💪🏼 Gym etiquette and confidence in a fitness setting
💪🏼 Bodyweight exercises
💪🏼 Dumbbell and cable lifts
💪🏼 Introductory barbell training
💪🏼 Safe, age-appropriate strength progressions
We also incorporate fun outdoor activities like hiking, jump rope, stairs, and team-based challenges to keep sessions engaging and active.
The goal isn’t perfection or pressure.
It’s building strong, confident girls who feel comfortable taking up space, trying new things, and supporting one another.

This post won’t do Mary’s story justice. You must read the full story on our blog, link in bio.
Mary Marovich didn’t come to Sweat Equity because she didn’t know how to take care of herself.
Years ago, she became a certified health coach. She understood the power of exercise, nutrition and self-care. She’d been what she calls a “gym rat.”
Then life intervened.
About six years ago, Mary faced a chronic illness — followed by an unimaginable family tragedy that changed everything. The gym fell away. Putting herself first felt impossible, even though she knew how much she needed it.
When she finally felt ready to come back, she ran into another hurdle: finding a place that felt safe.
“In this uber-competitive town, it can be daunting to find a gym you’re comfortable in,” she told me. “Being intimidated to step in a gym after being away for so long was frustrating.”
Mary started training with me in my barn gym in January 2025. What she needed went far beyond rebuilding muscle.
She needed confidence.
She needed encouragement.
And, maybe most of all, she needed permission — permission to take time for herself again and believe that doing so wasn’t selfish, but necessary.
She stuck with me through the move from the barn into our current space in town — even though the drive is 25 minutes each way. Today, she makes that trip four days a week.
That kind of commitment doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when training feels thoughtful, supportive and sustainable.
Mary says what hooked her was “the thought and science behind the workout.”
She also loved that the sessions left her feeling capable — not crushed. “It’s not a workout that makes you so sore that showing up is scary,” she said.
When she joined our intensive Total Recomp program, a few people quietly wondered if she’d be able to hang with the younger participants.

Oh man, this space, this year and these friendships… We would have none of it without each and every Sweat Equity member.
We have truly grown into a family that pushes each other to be better, to stretch ourselves, to grow stronger.
Thank you all for showing up each and every day, even when you don’t want to, and always bringing a smile to my face. Dance moves, dirty jokes, and downright sass – you all make my world go round.
Cheers to our first year at Sweat Equity Steamboat. We are just getting started!
If you didn’t make it into train today, be sure to make it this week to spin our prize wheel and enjoy some fun goodies.
Thanks for the protein bagels today and for organizing!
