What a great way to get your little one exploring and excited about fall!

🧽 Let's Wash Some Pumpkins!
Add small pumpkins, water, sponges, brushes, and cups to a sensory table or shallow tub. Invite your child to wash the pumpkins and explore the water!

🧠 What are children learning?

Fine motor skills as they squeeze sponges, grip brushes, and pour water.

Science concepts as they explore wet and dry, clean and dirty.

Problem-solving as they figure out how to clean each pumpkin.

Early math as they compare pumpkins and experiment with filling and pouring.

💬 What can you say to extend learning?

“What could you use to get the dirt off?”

“How does the pumpkin feel before and after washing?”

“What happens when you pour water into the cup?”

“Which pumpkin is bigger? Which one is smaller?”

A simple washing activity can become a wonderful opportunity for science, math, language, and discovery!

Remember to supervise children closely around water.
