To those who may be unaware, I started Grizzly Griptape in 2001 when I was 11 years old. Getting together with friends that I looked up to and making something out of nothing. It all began with Grizzly Grease and making a mess out of Hayden Biener’s mom and dad’s kitchen. We gave it away to our friends and made the first sale to Val Surf (the first skateshop in history). My dad bent small pieces of metal and glued them into a 2x4 which became what is known as, the OG Bear. The logo was not drawn, it was crafted. This passion then sat in the back of my mind until I was 20 years old. Crossing paths with Nicky Diamonds he supported my vision with an opportunity. Overnight, I became a business owner and licensed my company to Diamond Supply Co with Nick and Sean Apgar as my business partners. Together, we sat down and designed the GRIZZLY stamp logo. Thanks to Rob Dyrdek for also supporting my vision, he debuted my brand to the world on his MTV show . With high demand, Grizzly was one of the fastest growing companies in the skateboard industry.
