AUGUST PRESENCE | A pitch and a punch for the first of the month.
While that wasn’t exactly the theme of our Monthly Medal Mug competition, it wasn’t too far off as 18 players got August off to a great start on Saturday.
It may have been a tad windy and chilly but the sun was out, which was all that mattered.
Cheers to all for going clubbing when a late lie-in would have been extremely tempting.
RESULTS

NEVER A DULL MOMENT | No one can ever accuse Sardinia Bay Golf Club of being bland, uninteresting or one-dimensional.
Let's take the last two Order of Merit competitions as our main exhibits.
On the 15th, we went with the Individual Multiplier (IM) format, where Individual Stableford points (IPS) are multiplied by either two or three on certain holes.
Now that is what we call an incentive to throw your hat into the draw. Thank you to all 22 players who did so on that occasion.
Last week, on the 22nd, we had another field to match the date - but this time we through a Betterball at them.
So, let the record reflect that our participants are nothing if not adaptable.
Let’s take a look at who did what:

THEIR CUP OF TEE | A hug in a mug at this time of year sounds about right.
But it doesn't quite warm the cockles of the heart quite like Sardinia Bay Golf Club’s Monthly Medal Mug Competition.
An extraordinary number of brave souls gripped it and ripped it last weekend despite the weather not being warm and fuzzy by any stretch of the imagination.
Below are the guys and gals who did it best.

THIS ONE’S FOR YOU, GREENS | It’s always a sad moment saying goodbye to a member of our Sards family.
Marlene “Greens” Groenewald, our wonderful ladies and ladies league skipper, will start a new chapter overseas and, suffice to say, more than a few tears have been shed since she shared the news.
At the same time, we are so happy for this incredible lady whose beautiful spirit has touched everyone at the club and beyond.
It was only fitting then that our ladies, Strictly Come Golfing group and committee organised a special competition to send Greens on her way in style.
Fitting, too, that we chose a green, Springboks theme with the latter playing – and demolishing – England later on the same day.
We also gave our original format a little twist, branding it Gruesome Greensomes.
In a nutshell, both players hit their tee shots on each hole. The opposing team then decides which ball must be used for the second shot. The ball not chosen is removed and the team proceeds using only the ball that remains in play.
Thank you to everyone who came out to pay tribute to our beloved Marlene.

CE-COOL | A field of 17 hit back at the cold snap on Wednesday by pitching up and pitching well at our monthly Order of Merit (OOM) competition.
Kudos to those who are always willing to brave the elements with a swing and a smile just to get a round in.
A message to all the Gqeberha golfers out there: You don’t have to be a member of Sardinia Bay Golf Club to take part. We welcome everyone with open arms.
