A bit of wet and windy weather is on the way for Sunday. 8 courts booked at ALAC 1 - 3pm. $6 cash pay at the courts.

What a beautiful outlook at Lawley which delivers a very dramatic backdrop for our game. 10 brave souls took to the Sunday weather challenge and enjoyed nearly 2 hours of great pickleball before the threatening skies delivered. We play on the dual marked courts as the dedicated courts are slippery when damp.

Thanks again to all who turned up Sat for another busy bee with Friends of Lawley. This Sat saw the uncovering on an old ring lock fence that many did not know existed. It can now be seen from the car park. The fence was on the lower side of a walking path from the early 1900’s. The upper side retaining rock wall is also now exposed. And the lantana is slowly being removed from around the car park drain and old tennis court no 6. Once gone the area will be replanted with native species.

Huge thanks to everyone who gave up@time to mark out another 4 courts. Unfortunately the area was very wet and covered in debris. Not to be put off blowers and brooms were wielded to get the court area ready. The busy bees cleaned, dried, measured, chalk lined and then painted 1 and 3/4 courts. A great effort considering the conditions. Now we have an area to play that will be protected from the westerlies.

Thanks To John C, Mike P, Mark F ; Caroline F Tony T and Jenny R in conjunction with Friends of Lawley for getting their hands dirty in tackling the lantana near the lower car park. Once it’s all gone we will be looking at revegetating with native species. Lawley Park is looking better as these invasive species are being removed. Chris Gumby was down there spraying again on Sunday for that invasive creeper.
