Welcome to the Latest Edition of Canoe Connection
We’re super excited to bring you our latest edition of the Canoe Connection Newsletter, celebrating the history, passion and enthusiasm that continues to drive youth development in our sport.

In this edition, we meet two of the innovators and leaders behind the Gubbi Gubbi Junior Development Program — Jenny Rasmussen and Louise Donald. Both share an incredible passion for supporting our juniors, creating opportunities for young paddlers and helping build a strong future for our sport.

We also want to congratulate every Australian paddler who travelled to Singapore to compete at the World Sprint Championships.

Our elite paddling teams and club crews represented Australia with incredible enthusiasm a good collection of medals and smiles. Beyond the competition, they shared the Aussie spirit, created memories and demonstrated how travelling for our sport can build friendships and connections that last long after the final race.

Of course, none of this happens without the incredible work of the people behind the scenes. A huge thank you goes to all the coaches, managers, officials, volunteers, supporters and families who helped make the journey possible. There is an enormous amount of work that goes into getting athletes to the start line, and we appreciate every contribution.

We’d also like to recognise Kai Milen from Paddle Life TV, who travelled to his first World Sprints event to capture the journey of our Australian paddlers through video and photography. Having these moments documented allows us to share the excitement, friendships and experiences of our paddlers with the wider community — and creates some pretty fantastic photo albums along the way!

Get ready — the Sydney Harbour Challenge returns to beautiful Rose Bay in 2027!

Hosted by BONDI OUTRIGGER CANOE CLUB, with the support of AOCRA, we’re looking forward to another fantastic few days of racing on Sydney Harbour. 🛶🌊

The last day of racing at the 2026 IVF Vaa World Sprints, and the green and gold saved some of their best for last with podiums across the board:

🥈 Mooloolaba — Master 60 Women, V6 500
🥈 Noosa — Master 75+, V6 500
🥉 Team STOMP (Mooloolaba) — Master 70 Women, V6 500

Ten days, countless finals and a whole lot of heart. So proud of every crew that lined up for Australia and their clubs. 👏

Ten days. Marina Bay. And Australia absolutely SMASHED it! With multiple podium finishes across multiple divisions. From the juniors to the 80+ legends, the green and gold left it all on the water. 🥇🥈🥉
