Sets and reps tell you what to do. They don’t tell you how hard to work.
Two athletes can follow the exact same program and get two completely different sets of results. The difference? How close they took each set towards failure.
This applies to everything we do.
We need to reach top speed or close to top speed, to get faster.
We need to lift heavy, to build strength.
We need to challenge our aerobic capacity, to build endurance.
That’s why I and the athletes I coach rate their sets of 10, straight after they rack it.
Over time, the same RPE should come with more weight on the bar or a faster time.
That’s how I know we’re progressing, and if that isn’t happening… we make adjustments off of the back of it.
If you’re training to perform, try using RPE this week on each and every set to track your training intensity.
And if you’re an athlete and want RPE’s set for you, DM me GAME PLAN to book in a free discovery call to discuss coaching.
