Little Archibald doing his thing again on the weekend; being cute, jumping clear, coming home with ribbons and ignoring my trash riding...... So good to be back at it!

As usual, some lovely pics from Mike from Britt Grovenor Photography

60 days ago, after our blip at the Canberra Royal, my left shoulder got the full rebuild package, it’s full of titanium bolts and buttons and strapped together with kevlar … possibly a sign from the universe it was time to stop playing silly buggers and take up lawn bowls……

Today, it got a test run at the Waverley Park Equine training day. Nothing wild, just a couple of small 1m courses, but enough to test things by blowing the cobwebs out and remind myself I still can’t see a stride.

Massive shoutout to our Archibald 🐰who came out confident, honest, and far more mentally stable than his rider after our little incident. And if you know how mentally unstable Archie can be at times you’ll understand that’s not saying much about my own state of mind. 😂😂😂

Horses really do have a way of meeting you where you’re at — even when you’re bringing a fair bit of baggage back into the saddle, and Archie has been a saint since day 1 of getting back on.

Because here’s the bit we don’t talk about enough: after a proper fall, it’s not just bones that need fixing. As you get older, the mental game gets louder. The “what ifs” creep in, the hesitation lingers a fraction longer, and suddenly something that used to feel automatic takes conscious effort. Confidence isn’t lost all at once, it leaks out quietly whilst you’re waiting to get back on.

But getting back on isn’t just physical rehab, it’s rebuilding trust. In your body, your horse, and your own judgement. And some days, just turning up is the win.

Grateful for a good surgeon, a good physio, a good horse, and my wonderful Stinker for continuing to blindly back me every step of the way (and probably resisting the urge to bubble wrap me permanently).

Here’s to a quiet, uneventful winter of shows… preferably with all limbs and synthetic parts intact and no more bloody carriage ponies!!

🌟 LOTUS BISCOFF – The Ultimate Competitive Allrounder 🌟
16.1hh | 11yo | Quarter Horse Paint Gelding

Biscuit is a horse that truly needs no introduction. Having competed successfully across Australia, he is a seasoned campaigner with a proven record and a heart of gold.

Currently partnered with a 13-year-old rider and going kindly in a snaffle, Biscuit is the ideal mount for a confident junior or adult rider looking for a competitive yet incredibly fun horse.

• Brave, careful, and forgiving – a true confidence giver. The word stop is not in his vocabulary
• Loves his job and thrives in the ring

🐴 The Ultimate Allrounder:
Biscuit isn’t just a showjumper – he’s the full package.
• Bold and enthusiastic cross country ride
• Soft and willing on the flat
• Experience working cattle
• Has also tried his hand with success at barrel racing and other PC games

✨ Temperament & Handling:
• Easy to handle on the ground
• Travels in a truck or float like a pro

🚨 BREAKING NEWS 🚨

After years of watching me pour every spare dollar, minute, and emotional ounce into horses… Stink has finally decided to join the chaos — but in his own way.

He’s officially launched his own clothing brand 👉 Eqbear

Honestly, I couldn’t be prouder. This is the same man who still doesn’t fully understand why Archie's new winter rug cost more than his entire wardrobe… and yet here he is, voluntarily entering the apparel industry.

To everyone who has already jumped on board and supported him - THANK YOU. It genuinely means a lot to both of us… but mostly to me… because, the more clothing he sells, the more ponies I can justify buying....

At this point you’re not shopping; you’re investing in my future string of showjumpers. It’s really a community service when you think about it.

So go on, give him a follow, grab some gear, and support his goals - one shirt at a time.

2026 Canberra Royal Show - so much love for our little Archibald, and so much to learn for me.

Huge thank you to everyone that helped out in any way, we literally couldn't have managed without help, especially on Sunday when things went sidewards resulting in an unexpected early end to our summer show season after a somewhat delayed start.

My recovery may take a while and my shoulder may be full of titanium and kevlar, but we'll be back, god willing. Who knows, not being able to reach the snack cupboard for the next 12 weeks might be good for me!

30/12/2025

As your social media feed starts to fill with New Year’s resolutions, here’s one we should all consider! 🎉🐎

As we roll into a sunny new 2026 show season, let’s talk about the unsung horsepower of our sport: volunteers.

Yes, we’re ALL time poor.

Yes, we sometimes pay a lot to compete — entry fees, early entry fees sometimes, sponsorships, stabling, camping, first aid, ground fees… and sometimes even admin fees for good measure.

But here’s the plot twist:
Horse shows don’t run on entry fees alone. They run on people.

It takes 30 mins to set up a course.
It takes 10 minutes to change a course.
It takes 30 seconds to pick up a pole.
It takes even less time to say, “Need a hand?”

Volunteering doesn’t mean giving up your whole weekend or missing your class. It means stepping in, pitching in, and remembering that the sport we love only exists because people before us did exactly that. And some have been doing it for more years than you’ve been alive and year in year out these amazing people keep showing up despite saying that this was their last year; they need a break from it; someone else needs to step up.

So for 2026, maybe the resolution isn’t to see a better stride, a newer saddle, or fewer rails (though we’ll take those too). Maybe it’s simply this:

👉 Offer help.
👉 Be part of the solution and make your local clubs sustainable for the year.
👉 Feel good about yourself while doing it.

Because strong clubs, great shows, and a healthy sport don’t just happen — they’re built, one pole at a time. 💪✨
