Wins for our Prem 1 teams last night at Belconnen, our women easily accounting for Stallions 117-40 while our men worked hard to overcome Ramblers 98-83.

Stallions competed hard early, an early points barrage from Laela Watson (15 points) giving Rats a seven point lead at the first break. The floodgates opened from there, Rats scoring freely as injuries and fouls further decimated their rebuilding opponents. A 48- point final term was the exclamation point on a big win, Ali Francis finishing with 23 points, Madi Scholfield 21 and Nyakiir Dau a season-high 17.

Down early, our men squeezed in front by the half. The win was set up in the third term, Brooklyn Bruton (38 points) blowing the game apart with five threes in what seemed like two minutes of game time. Despite some nervous patches, Rats never surrendered the advantage from there as they secured an important win. Ben Godwin enjoyed an incredible night, finishing with 28 points and 27 rebounds (!!!), while Liam Naughton had 11 and Matt Beard-Browning 9.

Prem 2 in action tonight at 9.10pm - women at Belconnen against Spartans while the guys head south to play Warriors.

A big Rats derby in Under 16 Div 2 today, the River Rats taking on the Creek Rats. The River crew really gained the ascendency in the first half, a big half time lead unable to be clawed back by the Creek Rats, River taking the points 39-20. Well done girls and big thanks to Coaches Steve and Josh!

The Under 14 Div 3B Burley Rats faced off against Stallions today. The boys started well, looking particularly sharp in transition, but couldn’t quite sustain it across the four quarters, falling 33-53.

Exciting contest for the Under 12 Div 3 River Rats this morning, taking it right up to the ladder-leading Flames. The girls gave up an 8 point start but stuck to their task, taking the game right to the wire. Flames prevailed 20-23. Coach Meagan very very proud…..

Not our night last night, our Prem 2 teams both going down.

After a relatively even first term an experienced Flames crew were too good for our women, getting the win 37-67. Indi Clowry finished with 10 points and Ellie Robinson had 8, while Rats junior Amali Funnell had 7 points in her senior debut.

For our men, the game at times seemed closer than the final scoreline, falling to Ramblers 59-87 on what was a pretty rough shooting night. Seb Shirley finished with 10 points while both Reuben Ritchie and Anthony Blazevski had 9.
