We are beyond devastated to hear the news this morning about the fire at Tamar Marine. Our thoughts are with Tim and family who have been proud sponsors and an integral part of our club for decades. Our thoughts are also with TYC committee member Mitch and his wife Kathy from Almasts Australia and Steve and Helen from Walker Sails who have both been amazing supporters of our club. All three are icons of the sailing and boating industries and the Northern Tasmanian community. It is difficult to comprehend the impact this will have. 😥

Last night’s briefing for the Harcourts Launceston 2 Hobart yacht race was well attended. Looking for a quiet start in Bass Strait, with variable breezes, leading to a brisk NEasterly run down the East Coast.

Our final night of the Iron Pot Bay midweek series was held on Wednesday night in perfect weather. The series outcome was dependent on the final race, and scores were very close with Pennyless winning on 17 points, Scintilla in 2nd place on 18, and equal 3rd going to Lawless and Honey Pot.
Congratulations to all and thank you to the generous sponsorship by Iron Pot Bay wines. Thanks also to the volunteers in the kitchen, behind the bar and in the start box.
We were very pleased to have great competition with up to 10 boats participating throughout the series.

Christmas break up for SBSS today included a visit from Santa and a tour of the Police boat, Van Dieman. Thank you Senior Constable Darren Leary for showing us around and answering the many questions asked. Some of our juniors are now interested in a new career path!
