A free, weekly, timed 5k event every Saturday morning at 8am in Throsby Creek, Newcastle. Everyone is welcome to walk, run or volunteer. Clean up after you dog!

It's free. It's timed and it's every Saturday at 8am. Whether you’re a sprinter, a jogger or plodder, you’re welcome to join in the fun. The event starts and finishes near the Newcastle Rowers Club shed at Carrington (water end of Arnold St). Newy parkrun RUN REPORT Event #687
8th August 2026
This week we welcomed 400 people to run, jog and walk the course on a beautiful blue sky morning.
30 were first timers and 41 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 21 different clubs took part.
The event was made possible by 20 fabulous volunteers:

Thank you for continuing to support our parkrun and keep our roster looking healthy for the next few weeks.
Numbers are still light - there are many locals who have discovered the joys of parkrun touristing and have been at other local parkruns recently. All the better for getting a flat fast PB here at Newy!
17 people completed their first ever parkrun - welcome!! and we hosted 13 first time visitors, who were from Wilson Botanic, Toowoomba and Pakapakanthi.

Newy parkrun RUN REPORT 1/8/26 Event #686
Where were you? This week we only had 276 parkrunners complete our beautiful, yet wet and muddy in places, course. And you missed the most amazing double rainbow!! And the pot of Gold - another parkrun completed and added to your tally.
Congratulations to everyone who made it out of bed this morning, especially the 6 who completed their first ever parkrun and our 14 first time visitors.
29 new PBs were achieved and 26 different running clubs took part.
The event was made possible by 22 beautifully wrapped up volunteers who made it cheery and a successful morning. THANK YOU. The Name list is in the graphics this morning.
Our event RD this morning reported small numbers but a completely event uneventful which means no slippages or falls or injuries YAH!!

Visitors today were from: Cooks River, South Bank, Varsity Lake, Karkarook, Armidale, Taree, St Peters, Castlemaine and Bexley.
Hopefully we'll see more of you next week to emulate our local legend and double GOLD medalist, Rose Davies, and make the home sprint your path to a new PB.
