Wollongong Mustangs Gridiron 🏈 Home of American Football in the Illawarra! The seniors season runs from mid-August through to early December and culminates in the Waratah Bowl.

Wollongong Mustangs are bringing the gridiron heat since 1991!

🔥 Tackle Football – Men’s (18+) & Colts (15–18)
🌟 Flag Football – Women’s & Juniors
🎓 Academy – Juniors (10–15)

Follow us for all the action The Wollongong Mustangs Gridiron Club has two teams that take part in the Gridiron NSW league:

The Mustangs senior team (over 18's) competes in the 11 man, full contact, division one against five other teams spread across the greater Sydney area but also include teams from Newcastle, Central Coast down to Wollongong . Mustangs preseason training starts around early June and takes place at Vikings Oval Wollongong on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6:30pm - 8:30pm. The Mustangs Colts team (16-19's) competes in the 9 man, full contact, Colts division against four other teams from the same areas as the seniors. The Colts season runs alongside the seniors from mid-August to early December. Mustangs Juniors preseason training starts around early June at Vikings Oval Wollongong on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. The club aims to provide helmets, shoulder and body pads for players who don't have their own. For the start of preseason training, all that is required is yourself and a pair of boots. Like our page for further updates leading up to preseason and feel free to contact us if you have any enquiries or simply come down to Vikings Oval with your boots if preseason has already started.

After the long weekend break, the Mustangs are back and ready to hit the field for Week 3! ❤️💛

This week it’s all about TACKLE, with our Men’s and Colts teams heading to Sydney University while our Flag teams enjoy the bye.

🏈 MEN’S TACKLE | 3:00PM

The Men are back in action after the Week 2 bye and ready to get stuck into it against the Ducks!

After a tough opening round against the Raiders, the boys have had an extra week to reset, regroup and prepare — and they’ll be looking to come out firing in Week 3! 💪🔥

🏆 COLTS TACKLE | 6:00PM

Two games. Two wins. Our Colts are rolling! 🔥

After another huge performance in Week 2, defeating the Raiders 50–22, the boys are looking to keep their undefeated start to the season alive as they take on the Lions!

The momentum is building, and they’ll be hungry to make it 3 from 3! ⚡

🏈 UNDER 16 FLAG | BYE

After a massive opening two weeks and four games under their belts, our U16s get a well-earned weekend off before returning to action!

💜 GREMLINS SZN | BYE

The Gremlins also have the week off after four tough games to start their season.
A chance to reset, keep working and come back ready to chase that first W! 💜⚡

Ever watched a game and thought… what on earth is going on? 😂
What’s a first down? Why are there so many refs? And why do they keep throwing yellow flags everywhere?!

We’ve got you covered.

Join the Wollongong Mustangs for a completely jargon-free Gridiron 101 session designed for our parents, partners, family, friends and supporters who want to understand the game a little better.

We’ll cover the basics, answer your questions, introduce you to the club and, most importantly, have some fun along the way! ❤️💛

Three huge performances across the field this week from our Colts. 🔥

OFFENCE MVP — KEL ELLEM-PURCELL #8 👑

Kel showed his versatility all game, stepping up and putting in great work across multiple positions on offence. 💪

Whatever was asked of him, he got the job done and continued to contribute wherever the team needed him. Huge effort, Kel! ❤️💛

DEFENCE MVP — JAYDEN BAGUST #55 👑

Jayden was a force against the run game, playing strong, physical defence and consistently getting involved in tackles. 🔥

He also made his presence felt on Special Teams, putting together a massive all-round defensive effort. Great work, Jayden! ❤️💛

OVERALL MVP — CHASE ROWLAN #10 👑

Chase made his impact felt on both sides of the ball, stepping up and making plays on offence and defence throughout the game. 🏈

A complete performance, huge work rate and exactly the kind of effort we love to see. Massive game, Chase! 🔥❤️💛

🏈 U16 MIXED FLAG — WEEK 2 MVPs 🏈

A massive effort from our U16s this week, battling through the heat with limited numbers and continuing to make plays for each other on both sides of the ball. 🔥

GAME 1 MVP — LUCAS PEOPLES 👑

Lucas stepped up in a big way, taking on the QB role for both games and leading the offence through some seriously tough conditions. 💪

He kept working, made plays for his teammates and gave everything he had on both sides of the ball. A huge effort and a great example of stepping up when the team needed him! ❤️💛

GAME 2 MVP — ZEKE BLINKSELL 👑

Zeke brought huge effort all game, making plays for his teammates on both sides of the ball despite the heat and limited numbers. 🔥

And when the defence needed a big play, he delivered — coming up with a MASSIVE interception in Game 2 at exactly the right time! 🥶🏈

🏈 GREMLIN SZN — WEEK 2 MVPs 🏈

GAME 1 MVP — COURTNEY SCARTH 👑

Courtney showed massive heart in the stupid heat, blitzing on repeat and using her football IQ to attack from great angles and make life tough for the QB. 🔥

She also did a great job cutting off the short routes at corner and came up with a MASSIVE pick near the end zone when we needed it most — her first ever interception! 😏🏈

Huge defensive effort! ❤️‍🔥

GAME 2 MVP — ASHLEIGH SLATTER 👑

Ash had an awesome game on both sides of the ball! On defence, she read the offence really well and was one of our top taggers all game. 💪

On offence, she pulled in some great catches, used those Shakira hips like a boss 💃 and finished it off with her first ever touchdown! 🎉🏈

Huge all-round performance! ❤️‍🔥

A massive day at Sydney University with three Mustangs programs back in action.

🏈 COLTS TACKLE
Mustangs 50 – 22 UNSW Raiders
Another huge performance from the Colts as they keep the momentum rolling. 🔥

🚩 U16 MIXED FLAG
Game 1: Nepean Ducks 42 – 21 Mustangs
Game 2: Sydney Uni Katangas 36 – 16 Mustangs
A tough pair of games, but plenty to take away as this young group continues to build.

👾 GREMLIN SZN
Game 1: Lions Blue 20 – 0 Gremlin SZN
Game 2: Northern Sydney Rebels East 14 – 7 Gremlin SZN
Still hunting that first W, but the fight was there right to the end — especially in a tight Game 2.

Men’s Tackle enjoyed the BYE and will be back ready to go next round.
