Pacific Coast Renewables is proposing to expand their compost facility and add an anaerobic digester with a flare/open flame to burn excess gas.
As a skydiving and aviation operation next door, this raises serious safety concerns. We already experience odours, increased bird activity, and turbulence from the existing facility. Adding a large open flame and smoke/combustion plume near an active skydiving area creates an additional and potentially dangerous hazard for aircraft and skydivers.
Skydiving requires predictable airspace and safe, unobstructed flight paths. An open flame, smoke plume, turbulence, and increased bird activity in close proximity to aircraft and parachutists is a serious safety concern that must be addressed before this expansion is approved.
