Sisterhood Softball Durham

Week 2 rained out 🌧️, but week 3 was a whirlwind 🌀! Here are the GEMS of the week, in the words of our Season 5 captains:

Maksuda Hafeez - Amethysts
Maksuda has been consistently coming to practices and it shows in games! She really stepped up and was able to handle 2B which is an intense position, and she was open to feedback and did an amazing job!

Yousra Qureshi - Emeralds
As a pitcher, Yousra kept the ball going, getting strike after strike. Her team didn’t even get the chance to sit down because she was so efficient!

Nazneen Patel - Garnets
Nazneen did an amazing job hustling at first base! She also did a wonderful job cheering the team on and was engaged the whole game!

Sarah Genco - Quartz
Sarah had a positive mindset and perservered throughout the game. Pitching is not an easy position, but she stay determined, kept her head up, and continued supporting her team every step of the way!

Naznin Patel - Rubies
Naznin was an all-arounder, she had amazing hits along with smart base running. She motivated her other teammates and truly elevated the game with her attitude.

Shahina Shaikh - Sapphires
Shahina said she wanted to play a position I hadn’t previously put her in, and really excelled at it!

Sheila Sharifi - Topaz
Sheila came to the game with positive energy and team spirit. She was amazing all-around in calling out plays for the team, hustling to get outs as shortstop, and was a solid base coach!

💎💎💎 Who were the GEMS of Week 1? Here are our stars, in the words of our Season 5 Captains:

Sufia Motara - Amethysts
Sufia has a wonderful attitude and is always up for a challenge! She was requested to pitch mid-game and she gladly stepped into the role, while pushing the rest of the team to give their best, MashAllah!

Laura Salazar - Emeralds
Laura was asked to step catcher role last-minute and she did it with energy and hustle. Her dance moves on the field keep everyone entertained!

Sara Khan - Garnets
Even though we didn’t have a game this week, Sara showed amazing hustle and willpower for someone who is completely new to the game! Love the energy she brings!

Ayesha Naqui - Quartz
Ayesha started us off strong as pitcher, supported the players on the field and kept everyone motivated! Her leadership, teamwork and spirit make huge impact!

Hafsah Umar - Rubies
Hafsah puts the sister in sisterhood. She is a great team player and encourages her teammates. Heagerness to learn and adapt to different plays, makes her a real asset to the team. She offered to base coach when other players were batting and that really solidified her willingness to take charge. Love her on and off the field!

Sarah Tahir - Sapphires
This was her first game and she was hustling and hitting on the field like a pro!

Mariam Samad - Topaz
Despite being new to softball Mariam took on third base for the first time and rocked with her quick reflexes hustling many outs throughout the game including a fly out!
