Congratulations to the class of 2026! We are so proud of the humans you have become and can't wait to see how you change the world.
Today's feature is Ciara!
What is your favorite style?
Choosing a single dance style is impossible for me because Modern Dance and Musical Theatre both hold a special place in my heart. I thrive on exploring the abstract concepts and raw techniques of Modern dance, yet I am equally energized by stepping into the over-the-top, expressive characters of Musical Theatre. Ultimately, both styles give me the perfect outlet to do what I love most: captivate an audience and tell a powerful story.
What are your plans for next year?
I will be attending the Decidedly Jazz Danceworks Professional Training Program to further explore the history of jazz dance and music while building upon my jazz technique. I am also excited to join The Pocket, an all-women collective creating jazz-rooted pieces for tap dancers and musicians. I’m looking forward to taking the next step in my dance career and embracing these wonderful opportunities.
What is one of your favorite memories from dance?
There have been so many wonderful memories throughout my dance studio career that are near and dear to my heart. One of my fondest memories will always be exiting the stage after my solos and having Miss Kris and Miss Sam waiting there in the wings. Knowing that I was lucky enough to have two amazing teachers and advisors there to support me all these years is a memory I will cherish forever.
What would you like to share with younger dancers (ie. the next generation of dancers)?
To the next generation of dancers: your journey is entirely your own, so never compare yourself to the person standing next to you in the studio. Every dancer possesses a distinct creative voice and style that deserves to be celebrated. Embrace what makes you unique, share your authentic self with the world, and have the courage to step outside your comfort zone. Be bold, be fearless, and let your individuality shine! Never lose sight of why we take the stage – to feel the music, to express what words cannot say and to unite mind and movement in pure joy. Every performance is an opportunity to move the audience, spark a deep emotion and leave a lasting impression.

Today's feature is Skylar!
My favourite style of dance is lyrical, it lets me express my emotions and explore movement in many different ways, as well as how I can tell a story through my movements and emotions.
My plans for next year is to take a gap year to work and explore what’s really out there for me and see the world up close in my own eyes.
One of my many favourite dance memories is definitely the away competitions. Not one specifically, I just grow so much closer to my dance friends and make some of the best memories with the people I love most! We laugh and talk for hours which are my two favourite things to do!
Do what you love most and don’t let anyone tell you what you can and cannot do! Anything is possible with the right mindset and it’s amazing what you can do with that! Be confident and be you!

Today's feature is Annika!
What’s your favourite style?
I don’t think I have a favourite. They are all so different, I can’t really compare any of them. Each one has a little something that I love.
What are your plans for next year?
I am going to California to study nursing.
What is one of your favourite memories from dance?
There have been so many amazing memories and I was very grateful to grow up with such an amazing dance family. Every second with them is my favourite.
What would you like to share with younger dancers?
Enjoy everything, even the little moments. Time goes by so fast, and before you know it, you’re graduating and wondering where it all went.
Appreciate all of it. The backstage nerves, the 8 AM rehearsals where you’re half asleep but somehow still laughing, and especially the time you get with your friends. Those are the moments you’re actually going to miss.
So smile whenever you can, remember to be kind always, and live everyday to the fullest.

Favourite style of dance
My favourite style of dance is lyrical and jazz because I love the energy, performance quality of jazz and how expressive lyrical can be. I also love how both styles mixes technique with personality and lets me express both sides of me!
Next year plans
Next year, I’m going to attend Harbour Dance Centre ITP program, where I’m excited to continue growing as a dancer, train with new instructors, and push myself both technically and artistically. I’m really looking forward to all the new experiences and opportunities that will come with it.
Fav memories
One of my most cherished memories from dance is being part of the TA program and getting the opportunity to connect with all of the younger girls. They are such incredible, inspiring, talented, kind kids and the relationships I have been fortunate enough to built with them have genuinely changed my life. Getting to watch them grow not only as dancers, but also as people, has been incredibly meaningful to me. Being someone they look up to while also learning so much from them myself is something I will always be grateful for. These kids have made me realize that you should hold onto all the little things in life and never be afraid to silly once in awhile!
Advice
Always remember progress takes time! Never compare yourself to anyone around you. You are uniquely you! Use that to find what makes you special! Be the hardest worker in the room. Stay humble and kind, and Never let go of the reason why you dance. Put yourself out there! Lastly never take yourself too seriously be silly, act crazy, laugh lots but most importantly look back on where you came from and where you are now and enjoy that feeling it’s not the destination it’s the journey!

Today's featured grad is Lucy!
My favorite style is tap dance because it combines music and movement in a unique way. I love how tap creates rhythms with feet and can express musicality and dance at the same time.
Next year, I hope to continue improving my technique, learn more advanced rhythms and choreography, and perform in more shows. Alongside working over my gap year.
One of my favorite memories is performing my trio at the dance competitions in 2025. After weeks of practice, it was exciting to step onto the stage, hear the sounds of syncopation without music and feel the energy from the audience.
To the younger dancers- Enjoy the learning process and don't be afraid to make mistakes. Tap dance takes patience and practice, but every challenge helps you grow. Listen to the music, have fun with the rhythms, and remember that confidence comes from continuing to work hard and express yourself through dance.

-My favourite styles are contemporary and ballet because I love how expressive and controlled they feel. But I’m a musical theatre girl at heart, it allows me to have such a fun time on stage and be as goofy as I can.
-Next year, I’ll be studying nursing at the University of Alberta, with the goal of becoming a pediatric oncology nurse.
-One of my favourite memories from dance is going to Menchies after a couple Thursday classes with everyone. After being exhausted from rehearsals, we’d always find the energy to go to Menchies, eat a big bowl of frozen yogurt, laugh way too loud, and debrief absolutely everything that happened that day. It was such a small thing, but it felt so special and brought us together.
-To the younger dancers: don’t rush it. Be goofy, take a million pictures, laugh in the wings, and soak in every second with your friends. The trophies are great, and the scores are rewarding. However, the memories and the people you meet are what you’ll actually carry with you into the future. And as always, when in doubt, dance it out!
