Small World. Big Dreams. 🇨🇦⚽️

A special moment ahead of tonight’s match as a young player from Suburban FC and Valley United met fellow Port Williams native Jacob Shaffelburg in downtown Montreal.

2003 → National Champions.
2026 → Hall of Famers 🏆

Congratulations to the 2003 Halifax Athens Women’s Soccer Team on their induction into the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame.

As the first Nova Scotia senior women’s soccer team to win a Canada Soccer national club championship, their achievement changed what was possible for women’s soccer in our province and inspired generations of players to follow.

Speaking on behalf of the team today, captain Andrea Gillespie reflected on what makes this recognition so meaningful:

“What makes this honour even more special is being able to share this moment with our children, so they can celebrate their moms and the legacy of women in sport. It’s a powerful time to celebrate women athletes, past, present, and future.”

More than two decades after making history, the impact of this team continues to be felt throughout our soccer community.

We look forward to celebrating with the entire team at their official induction on November 7 in Halifax.
