TEAD Therapeutic Riding Centre

TEAD Therapeutic Riding Centre Enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities through therapy with horses 🩵🐴

Riders are matched to their horse to ensure that they receive maximum benefit while riding. A rider with very tight, spastic muscles, usually starts off on a narrow, smooth gaited horse to encourage relaxation of the muscles, whereas a rider with poor balance or trunk control would be mounted on a wider horse to provide them with a more stable base of support. Lessons vary in length from 30-60 minutes depending on the riders age and ability. Exercises are recommended by the physiotherapist and implemented by the riding instructor. Progress is monitored on a weekly basis and records are kept to ensure that all the riders are receiving individual feed back. Once our riders can maintain their balance in the arena, we take them outside where they learn to ride up and down hills, and enjoy the scenary and fresh air on our 92 acre farm nestled in the rolling hills of Mount Hope, Hamilton.

September 5th is International Day of Charity! 🐴🩵

Join us in celebrating nearly 50 years of possibility - and make the next 50 possible, too!

For nearly five decades, TEAD Therapeutic Riding Centre has been part of the Hamilton community and servicing individuals beyond - creating opportunities for children, youth and adults with disabilities to experience greater confidence, independence, connection and joy through the power of horses.

Generations of riders and families have come through our gates. Thousands of volunteers, donors, staff and community champions have helped make that impact possible.

And as we approach an incredible milestone - 50 years of TEAD - we’re not only reflecting on where we’ve been.

We’re investing in where we’re going.

This International Day of Charity, we invite you to be part of TEAD’s next chapter by helping sustain the programs, horses, people and place that make our mission possible.

Here are some ways you can support TEAD's mission:
💙Join the Mane Support Society - Only 8 Spots Remain!
