Things I would tell you as a Camp Director if I wasn't afraid to hurt your feelings:

🏕️ It's sometimes hard to say goodbye to your kids, but being reunited and hearing all about their adventures makes it worth it
🌲The biggest thing parents can do to prepare their children is get excited about camp with their kids before they come to camp
🎉 Friendship in the outside world is hard, but camp makes an environment where campers can bond more quickly. Plus most of our staff were campers before so they know the feeling and do their best to foster those friendships
🤞🏼Making promises to your kids that you/we can't keep before they get to camp makes our jobs at camp trickier
🏠 Homesickness happens, but it tells us that their homes are safe and good places that they miss. We work through it with the camper and contact the parent if the homesickness starts to impact the campers participation in activities.
🛟 Safety is at the foundation of everything that we do.

Lastly, growth happens when we let kids have space and independence, and with supportive role models, in an environment life camp, it's incredible how a child can grow in just a short period of time.
