is in full effect, it's the season of layers to stay warm stretching, cool at mid run and warm again when you're sweating in the cold.
Thin next to skin, thicker outer layer. Buffs, gloves and thicker socks are your friends!
Oh yeah, and don't forget to charge your light!!

- one of the rare group picts, we tend to just get going after the 6:30 stretch.
We're back in headlamp season and there's a big ol' box of headlamps with fresh batteries here each week if you forget!
Can you believe it, only 14 more Mondays in 2025!! 1 - finish out your year strong,
2 - get outside while the weather is still amazing
3 - familiarize yourself with the cross country trails before the snow flies!

Take out more than you bring in.
1. Take the time to listen, smell, feel and observe in the trails and come back with more than a sense of accomplishment.
2. If you bring a bottle or wrapper, take it out with you. Picking up other trash is the only actual way to reduce litter.
3. Share your experiences, invite others and own the benefits your actions produce for nature and others!

I want to share the term - taking joy in the success and happiness of others, without jealousy or envy. It's a big part of what makes being part of the running community/clubs fun and what continues to attract people to come out and participate.
We only get 52 Mondays per year, it's wild to think of the variety of routes, weather and mental states we find ourselves in as the seasons roll by. I hope we can all continue to seek personal goals and get joy by doing it alongside others seeking theirs.
Meet at 6:30, stretch, run at 6:40

Nature Be Naturing - as wildlife starts waking up from winter here’s a little info guide to keep trail users and nature safe this summer.
In the 6+ years of running and grooming on the trails I have seen - fishers, porcupines, deer, snakes, foxes, coyotes, wild turkeys, racoons to name a few. Other than the odd porcupine or wild turkey crossing a trail, these animals are usually running away or freezing in place because
1. they don’t understand why you’re running with nothing chasing you or
2. because they’re trying to avoid being tagged on
Make noise, give them plenty of space if they are on the trail and don’t approach. Keep your dog on a leash (especially at dawn and dusk), don’t leave food or food waste on the trail and if you observe an animal behaving in a way that could put people at risk (approaching people or in distress) call the emergency line - 613.239.5353
I’d be more diligent with mosquitoes, black flies, poison ivy, wild parsnip and of course

The weather is a big motivator for spring training. If you're not already paying attention to consistency in your running schedule, time will quickly run out to get in healthy training growth for your spring running goals. IT'S NOT TOO LATE!!
A recovery run is always a good way to squeeze in an extra 5k to your weekly volume!
