Looking Ahead—This spring has handed us a landscape we haven’t seen in a long time. Widespread sheet water holding late into May means incredible nesting conditions and dispersed birds across our hunting grounds.
If you’ve been keeping an eye on the habitat reports out of Saskatchewan this spring, you already know the story—but seeing it firsthand puts it into perspective. We’ve seen more sheet water and lingering spring moisture across our zones through May than we have in years.
For those tracking the upcoming waterfowl season, this is exactly the kind of setup we want to see. Having this much shallow water spread across the landscape is the ideal environment that could potentially lead to a supercharge of the “duck factory,” maximizing survival rates for young birds.
There’s still a long summer ahead, but the foundation is right where it needs to be. If these conditions hold through June, the local production is going to give us plenty to look forward to come this fall.
The countdown to the fall flight at Swift River Outfitters is officially on.

As our spring season in Saskatchewan comes to a close, we look back on a stretch of days that remind us why we do this. From the early mornings, muddy roads, snow, rain, and endless miles across the prairie — every hunt was earned, adding another memory we won’t forget.
The pile pictures tell part of the story, but the real highlight has always been the people behind them. Watching groups return year after year, sharing camp, laughs, and unforgettable hunts together is what makes this all worth it. Our goal every single day is to provide the highest quality hunting experience possible, and we take a lot of pride in the work that goes into making that happen.
We look forward to what fall will bring us this year in Saskatchewan.
