PICKARD AND PENNEY SELECTED TO PRIVATEER’S SQUAD

The Atlantic Privateers have selected two senior women's rugby players from Newfoundland and Labrador to join their squad to play against the USA South Women's team at Graves Field in Halifax, May 28th with a 6:30 pm kick-off.

Madeline (Maddie) Pickard’s recent re-selection to the Privateers line-up follows a highly successful debut in Ontario earlier this month, proving she has what it takes to perform at this level.

Maddie commented about the upcoming game against the USA South Women's team, "My expectation is to play competitive, quality rugby, gain experience, and show our Atlantic pride!".

Jessie Penney, who got her start with the NL Rock Women and played in the Canada Games 7s in 2022 and has recently been a standout in the St. FX University squad will make her debut with the Privateers in Halifax this week. Jessie stated, "I would say that I expect this experience with the Privateers to challenge me to grow as a player, help me learn from talented teammates and coaches, as well as push me to compete at a higher level of rugby!"

We wish them the best in the game and an incredible opportunity for women's rugby in the Atlantic region!

Our Rookie Rugby Programs kick off their summer programs on June 10th!

Programs include weekly practices, games, jamboree’s and jerseys.

Programs are co-ed, non contact and focus on the games fundamentals in an inclusive environment.
