‼️ RESTRICTION IS DANGEROUS ‼️

🍽 Dieting increases the risk of eating disorders, weight gain, preoccupation with or fear of food, and distance from our own biological hunger and fullness cues.

🚫 We not only do NOT support fad diets, but we want to spread the word on their dangers. That’s why you won’t find any diets disguised as “lifestyles,” cleanses, or detoxes in our healthy living toolkit.

🙌 We believe in variety, sustainability, balance, joy, and moderation. Food should not be feared, and we're fed up with the current culture of food shaming. We truly believe all foods can be enjoyed in moderation.

🧐 Our goal is to present evidence-based facts, so you can make informed decisions for yourself.

Big love,
Craig (he/him) and Lisa (she/her)

🎉 HELP US CELEBRATE COACH Ashley Athletics ON HER BIRTHDAY!!! 🎉

We absolutely love watching Ashley helping teens to seniors of ALL abilities claim their right to joyful movement experiences where they can celebrate their bodies, and train free of judgement!

We also absolutely love that she acknowledges that every ‘body' is worthy, and deserves to feel represented, welcome, and seen as valuable - that being an athlete does NOT take a specific look.
This is great news because healthy body image role models are tough to find, let alone meet. Especially in toxic gym and diet culture.

Our community is always excited to watch this athlete excel in a sport that she loves: POWERLIFTING. Watching her strength progressions over the years has been incredible! Ashely has done extremely well at powerlifting meets and has the medals to prove it! :)

Ashly, we are grateful for your values, you are making a difference in this industry. Your ambition, strength, and heart are changing the world one bold step at a time!
We hope your special day gives you all the happiness you give to others. Happy birthday, dear Ash!

Big love,
Craig, Lisa and the team! ♥

For peri/menopausal women, strength training is one of the most effective ways to slow bone loss and improve bone density.

Estrogen decline during menopause increases the risk of osteoporosis, so exercises that place controlled load on the bones are especially valuable.

Strong muscles support strong bones. And considering one in two women over 50 will have an osteoporotic fracture, I’d say that’s a pretty good reason to pick up something heavy. (Heavy for YOU)

And I could not do this on a low calorie, restrictive diet.

No stage of life should be about shrinking.
It’s about building a body that can carry you through whatever comes next.

Big love,
Coach Lisa (she/her)

IT'S ALBERNI DISTRICT FALL FAIR WEEKEND!
So many tasty foods and treats!

Most people think cutting out “unhealthy” foods will improve their well-being. For those who are vulnerable to eating disorders, it often does the opposite.

Do some foods contain more nutrients than others? YES, absolutely. That doesn’t mean “unhealthy” foods are all non-nutritious, or don’t add value to your life in other ways. Food connects us to others 🫂, provides comfort 🍜, and ultimately… is just food 🥫. It doesn’t have an intrinsic moral value.

When you embrace an “all foods fit” mentality, you release yourself from the constant shame and judgment that comes up when you look at foods as “good” or “bad.” And you let your body find a natural balance of foods that makes you feel good. 🧘

For people in eating disorder recovery, this process can take time and lots of outside support — but an “all foods fit” approach is often a key to fully breaking free from disorder.

No matter what your current relationship is with food, allowing yourself to find joy in ALL different types of food is literally proven to improve your mental and physical health.

Guilt doesn’t belong on your plate.

You have full permission to eat ALL foods.

All foods fit and have a purpose.

What is YOUR favorite fair treat? Mini donuts are our go-to!

Big love,
Craig (he/him) and Lisa (she/her)
