Heart Rate Zones Testing!

Pinnacle Athlete Maggie Bell completes her heart rate zone test at the Pacific Institute for Sport Education.

Heart rates vary greatly on individuals regardless of fitness levels, that is why it is important to test, analyze, and determine your personal training zones. These personal zones will then be prescribed and used while training to utilize the body’s different energy systems and optimize improvement. The zones can also be used during racing as guide for the most efficient effort levels during performance.

Maggie will be putting her training zone to the test as she prepares for some multisport races and a Half Marathon this fall – Go Maggie!

Maggie is also a sport enthusiast and physiotherapist who helps others with their health. You can read about Maggie’s clinic here:

Easter Swim!

A longstanding tradition - the Good Friday Easter Morning Swim at Noosa Main Beach. What a great way to start your Easter weekend - a 3K group swim starting at Noosa Main Beach to beautiful Tea Tree Bay and back. Along the way you pass by surfers on First Point, Little Cove, and Boiling Pot all while paralleling the Noosa National Park coastal boardwalk and trail. What a tour! And you have company - over 100 swimmers of all speeds from the Noosa Triathlon Club and other local swim programs.

Pinnacle Fitness in Australia

Brisbane, Australia will host the 2032 Olympic Games. Pinnacle Fitness attended a 2032 Australian Sport Legacy Taskforce function last week to learn more about the Games, and celebrate 70 years of Olympic Legacy from when Australia hosted the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne. Many of the Olympic stars from these Games were in attendance - now in their 90's! Australia's legacy for Olympic Games has been an instrumental part of Pinnacle Fitness's history, with Senior Coach Paul Regensburg attending the 2000 Sydney Games to support the first ever gold medal in the sport to Canadian Simon Whitfield and providing commentary for CBC's television coverage of the historic event. Looking forward to Brisbane in 2032!

Swimming in Honolulu

Pinnacle Fitness was at one of its favourite swimming spots at Ala Moana Park in Honolulu, Hawaii!

And a bonus, Pinnacle Coach Janet Nielsen met up with legendary endurance athlete and coach, Mark Shorter for a swim. Mark has completed 106 marathons including running the Honolulu Marathon 36 times!

Ala Moana features a 200m long protected swim area on Magic Island which is a great spot for a safe ocean swim with some intervals. And right next door is also a 1000m open water swim stretch that is reef protected.

Next time you are on the island of Oahu, check it out for a great open water swim.
