Speaker Spotlight: Mary Claire Geneau
How do we move from force plate data to meaningful performance decisions?
At the Sport Science Summit 2026, Mary Claire Geneau (She/Her), PhD, Postdoctoral Researcher with the University of Victoria and Canadian Sport Institute Pacific, will present Performance Profiling and Monitoring Using Force Platforms: Principles of Metric Selection.
In this interactive session, MC will explore how practitioners can select force plate metrics through practical, statistical, and biomechanical lenses. Using common assessments like the countermovement jump, isometric mid-thigh pull, and drop/rebound jump, she will highlight how the right suite of metrics can better support training prescription and athlete monitoring.

🧠Speaker Spotlight: Geoff Hackett (He/Him), CMPC
Mental Performance Consultant, Canadian Sport Institute Pacific
We’re excited to welcome Geoff Hackett to the Sport Science Summit 2026, where he’ll present:
Building Blocks for Mental Performance: Integrating PCDEs into Coaching Practice
Geoff has supported provincial and national team athletes and coaches at CSI Pacific since 2019, helping athletes develop the mental performance strategies needed to thrive under the demands of high-performance sport.
In this session, Geoff will introduce the Psychological Characteristics of Developing Excellence (PCDEs) and explore how coaches can intentionally build qualities such as commitment, goal setting, self-evaluation, and coping with pressure directly into everyday training environments.
Rather than treating mental skills as separate from performance, this workshop focuses on practical ways coaches can integrate mental performance into their coaching practice to better support athlete development, resilience, and long-term success.

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week.
This year’s theme is CONNECTION, because connection can look different for everyone. It might be a deep conversation, shared laughter, quiet presence, side-by-side support, or a simple check-in.
At CSI Pacific, we support mental health and well-being for athletes, coaches, and staff by helping connect our community to tools, resources, and support through Game Plan and Homewood Health.
This week, choose one small way to connect with someone in your community.
Game Plan athletes also have access to mental health tools, resources, and 24/7 support through Homewood Health. Visit homeweb.ca, register, and search Team Canada Athletes to get started.
