Chantal is a proud Red River Métis athlete, coach, entrepreneur, and community leader with a lifelong commitment to advancing Indigenous sport, recreation, and wellness. She brings more than 14 years of leadership and project management experience, along with a passion for creating meaningful opportunities for Indigenous youth and communities.

A recipient of the prestigious Tom Longboat Award and a MASRC Hall of Fame inductee, Chantal has dedicated her career to empowering Indigenous athletes, fostering leadership, and strengthening communities through sport and wellness.

We are excited to welcome Chantal to the MASRC team and look forward to the leadership, vision, and passion she will bring as we continue to support Indigenous sport, recreation, and wellness across Manitoba.

📣 We're hosting the Aboriginal Coaching Modules (ACM) on August 8. The ACM is an NCCP-accredited course for current and aspiring coaches working with Indigenous athletes!

Dates: Saturday, August 8
Time: 8:30AM – 4:30PM
Location: Sport Manitoba, 145 Pacific Ave Winnipeg MB
Lunch and all learning materials are provided!

This course is required for coaches participating in the 2026 Manitoba Indigenous Summer Games, 2027 North American Hockey Championship (NAHC), and 2028 North American Indigenous Games (NAIG).

For the third year in a row, Manitoba was proudly represented at the All Nations Volleyball Showcase, held for the very first time in beautiful Aotearoa (New Zealand)!

This year's Manitoba athletes were Angele Turrenne, Maxime Vermette, Adrian Deer, Owen Giesbrecht, and Gabriel Beaudin. Four of the five athletes are also proud alumni of the 2023 National Aboriginal Indigenous Games (NAIG), a testament to the incredible talent being developed here at home.

The trip was about so much more than volleyball. Our athletes had the opportunity to immerse themselves in Māori culture by staying in a traditional marae, sharing a hāngī together, cheering on the All Blacks, and exploring the world-famous Hobbiton.

On the court, Team Manitoba continued to shine against some of the best Indigenous volleyball talent from around the world. Maxime Vermette was named Tournament MVP for an incredible third consecutive year while also earning the Best Server award. Owen Giesbrecht was recognized as the tournament's Best Spiker. Maxime, Owen, and Gabriel Beaudin were also each named Players of the Game throughout the tournament for their outstanding performances.

A huge thank you to the Aotearoa Māori Poiwera for your incredible hospitality. Thank you for welcoming our athletes with open arms, caring for them as if they were your own, and creating an unforgettable cultural experience. We also want to thank you for organizing such an outstanding event and bringing together such a high calibre of competition. The friendships, connections, and respect built through this tournament are what make the All Nations Volleyball Showcase so special.

Congratulations to all of our athletes on representing Manitoba with pride, passion, and sportsmanship. We're incredibly proud of everything you accomplished, both on and off the court!

🏒 Ready to level up your game? Join our Shoot & Score Youth Ball Hockey Clinic this summer!

Designed for youth ages 10–15, this fun, co-ed clinic will help players build confidence while improving shooting, ball control, offensive skills, decision-making, and more. Whether you're new to the game or looking to sharpen your skills, all skill levels are welcome!

🏅 Phase 1 of the 2026 Manitoba Indigenous Summer Games has officially wrapped up!

Congratulations to Norway House Cree Nation and the NHCN Parks & Recreation Division on hosting a successful Phase 1 of the 2026 Manitoba Indigenous Summer Games.

From the athletes and coaches to the volunteers, officials, Elders, and community members, thank you to everyone who helped make this event such a success. Your hard work, hospitality, and dedication created an unforgettable experience while celebrating sport, culture, and community.

We also extend our congratulations to all of the athletes who competed with determination, teamwork, and pride. Your commitment and sportsmanship continue to inspire us all.

Thank you to everyone who played a part in making Phase 1 a success. We look forward to seeing everyone again as we continue the journey toward the Phase 2 of the 2026 Manitoba Indigenous Summer Games in Sagkeeng First Nation next month!

Don't forget to register for the Team Manitoba Identification Camp taking place July 24-25, 2026 at Seven Oaks Arena! 🏒〽️

Selected athletes will represent Team Manitoba at the 2027 National Aboriginal Hockey Championships, taking place in Membertou, Nova Scotia in May 2027.

Athletes must be Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, & Inuit), permanent residents of Manitoba, born between 2009-2013, and playing at the A-AAA level or higher.
