Adding a man door to a shipping container is simple. We use specially built container doors that retrofit directly into the side of the unit. As you can see in this video, they install quickly and give you easy side access without opening the big barn doors every time.
If you need a man door added to your container, we’re always here to help. Thank you.

At Cantrans Containers, we provide custom container solutions across Canada, designed and built entirely by our in-house team. This allows us to maintain full control over quality, consistency, and delivery timelines on every project.
In this video, we’re showcasing a brand new 20-foot container that has been modified into a dual-purpose unit — combining an off-grid office space with secure storage.
This type of configuration is ideal for construction sites, remote projects, and industrial applications where having both workspace and storage in one unit improves efficiency and reduces setup time.
For this project, the customer wanted a clean and functional office on one side of the container, with the other half dedicated to safely storing tools, materials, and power equipment.
We began with the structural modifications, cutting and installing a man door to ensure easy and secure access. We also added windows to bring in natural light, making the office space more comfortable and practical for daily use.
Once the openings were completed, our team moved on to the framing stage. Proper framing is essential, as it supports insulation, interior finishing, and ensures long-term structural integrity.
After framing, we applied spray foam insulation with an R12 rating. This helps regulate temperature inside the container and makes it suitable for Canadian weather conditions, especially for off-grid or year-round use.
With insulation completed, we moved on to the interior finishing, installing plywood throughout the container. This creates a durable and low-maintenance surface that works well in both office and storage environments.
We then completed the window framing and sealing, ensuring a clean finish and proper insulation around all openings.
To finalize the layout, we installed a solid partition wall to clearly separate the office and storage areas. This provides better organization, improved workflow, and added security for stored equipment.
The end result is a practical, efficient, and fully customized container solution — built to perform in real working conditions.
At Cantrans Containers, we focus on delivering solutions that are not only functional, but built to last. Whether it’s a single custom unit or multiple containers for a larger project, we have the capability to deliver across Canada.

In this video, we show how we do the framing, spray foam insulation, and plywood installation on a 20-foot shipping container here at Cantrans Containers. Our team begins with careful framing, using the container’s floor and ceiling hooks to maintain structural strength while creating a solid wooden framework for insulation and interior finishing. Attention to detail is key in this step, ensuring the container remains strong and durable while providing a perfect base for the next stages.
Next, we apply spray foam insulation throughout the container. This insulation provides excellent protection from cold temperatures and harsh weather, which is especially important for Canadian winters. It helps maintain a stable interior temperature, protects against moisture, and ensures the container is comfortable and functional for storage or workspace projects.
After insulation, we install three-quarter inch plywood on the walls and ceiling. Using thicker plywood adds durability, extra thermal protection, and a clean, polished interior. This step is essential for creating a professional finish and further protecting the container from the elements. We also carefully insulate the doors, which helps retain heat and improve overall energy efficiency, ensuring the container is fully sealed and ready for use.
The final result is a well-prepared, insulated, and durable container that is ready for storage, workspace, or future conversion projects. Every step is completed by our skilled team, demonstrating the quality and care that goes into each container we modify.
