Kieran is a multi-talented and experienced martial artist. Highly recommend.
🥋 Welcome to Kudo England 🏴
We’re proud to officially welcome Kieran Makenji and Zanshin Karate Academy as a new Kudo England Study Group, based at KSG Dunstable.
Kieran brings a huge depth of martial arts experience to the Kudo community, including:
• 9th Kyu Kudo
• 2nd Dan Karate
• 1st Dan Taekwondo
• 3rd Kyu Judo
• Kickboxing
This blend of striking, grappling, and traditional martial arts is exactly what Kudo is about, and we’re excited to see Zanshin Karate Academy grow and develop within Kudo.
Welcome to the journey — we look forward to training together, sharing knowledge, and building the future of Kudo in England.

I'm only making this statement because of the constant stupid comments you see on so many posts, particularly in light of "understanding" karate.
It would seem the majority of people interpret everything as right or wrong based entirely on their understanding (which is obvious I suppose) but they seem to assume that their understanding is "the" understanding, which is universal no matter what the purpose and goals of other peoples training.
So, when it comes to MY karate, it is based on MY understanding of what karate is which has come after now decades of training and is specific to my aims and goals for what I want my karate to be. I appreciate that I have a fairly narrow focus (and that focus has changed over the years) but that is the path I have chosen and what I do, and the way I do it, suits that purpose.
I have been that idiot in the past and assumed that what other people do is just wrong. I have also come to understand that the reason I was that idiot was because, at the time, my understanding of karate was poor and superficial. I have to assume the same is true of them also, some will learn (hopefully), others will not (as is evidenced by some to the dick "I've been training 40 years..." posts).
You cannot judge what karate is, you can only judge what your karate is.

Probably need a cup of tea for this one :-)
I mean, it’s just a punch, innit!? I was just going to make a passing social media comment on the topic but as soon as I started down that path it was obviously going to be too long a subject for anybody to read.At least by writing …

Well worth a listen I think.
I always thought I was a "Bunkai Whisperer" in fact I may have been reading the ink blots all wrong, seeing shapes in the clouds that my mind conjured up and committing the biggest offence of all, thinking for myself.

Hypothetical situation (possibly :-) )
If a new group somehow managed to book the same venue, on the same day, at the same time as a well established existing group of good reputation, teaching what looks like (at a surface level) pretty much the same style of thing, and they then arranged (somehow) to send letters to all the existing groups students would you think that this tells you all you need to know about this new group?
Just something to "focus" on for a Sunday afternoon ;-)
Don't forget that you are now only 2.5 weeks away from Les Bubka 's Karate for Mental Health charity seminar.
Should be a really good day.
Sunday 22nd Sept in Guildford.
I'm sure Les would love to hear from you :-)
